MG and series children’s author looking for rep and/or ghost work. Writing tutor and mentor. 🐕‍🦺🐈🐈‍⬛She/her
I’ve pretty much taken a week off due to knee surgery, but I’m back now. I just need to remember to move regularly or my leg will seize up and I’ll be stuck at my desk forever. #amwriting

Classic crap email today.
Dear ‘NAME’, Does your book ‘BOOK’ get the marketing it deserves?
Clearly, not by supposed marketing person sending this email. 🤨 #kidlituk #ukkidlit

Ziggy, the writing studio cat is in residence. She’s demanding attention, chewing cables and typing her own words. I’m looking forward to her becoming an adult cat that sleeps for 20 hours a day. Love her though ❤️

Unlike many authors, I’m not afraid of writing a synopsis. But trying to summarise a psych thriller with multiple murders, clues and red herrings while keeping it to a reasonable length is a challenge! #amwriting

Wishing all my #kidlituk #ukkidkit friends a fabulous week. Hope the schools remember you are coming, the teachers join in your events, the kids ask great questions and you don’t catch any lurgies. Have fun.

I’ve been home alone with my two cats for two days.
They are taking it in turns to stop me working. The other laps come home this evening and I suspect I’ll be dumped by both cats within minutes so I’m enjoying the loving while it lasts. #amwriting #kidlituk #ukkidlit

The other human is away so I have a very demanding Ziggy for company, only there isn’t much space on my lap while I’m typing.

Such a great book. As ever, Patrice captures the teen voice and experience so brilliantly.
Once more, but with make up.

PEOPLE LIKE STARS, my new middle grade contemporary mystery is out today.

Three young people.
A stolen baby.
A family secret.
A grumpy tattooed woman of a certain age who definitely bears absolutely no resemblance to anyone I know. Or am.

I didn’t take a single photo during my writer’s retreat with the Scattered Authors, but rest assured I had a fabulous time and return to my desk refreshed, renewed and ready to go. I ❤️ hanging out with my writer tribe. #kidlituk #ukkidlit #amwriting

Every time I think I've been wanging on about my upcoming/recent book until I'm blue in teh face and everyone has died of boredom, I will hear someone be surprised that I have a new book out...no one pays attention like you do to your own stuff, you need to talk about it 50 times to be heard once!
I will say it again, you need to be more obnoxious bout your projects. Your comics, your novels, your tarot cards, patreon, ko-fi, whatever! I promise someone will think "Oh! I didn't know they had that!"

When you write chapters from different pov, do you write all one pov, then 2nd, then 3rd, to keep the voices clear. Or do you alternate between all and drive the story in a linear way? Curious. I write from one pov in 1st per or close 3rd with my character active in every scene. #ukkidlit #kidlituk

I have a serious To Do and packing list before then, including finalising the quiz I host on the first evening. Can’t wait. #kidlituk #ukkidlit

In what decade over the last 100 years was life simpler? Does simpler mean easier? Was life easier before the internet? The beds in tv of film from the 60s look so uncomfortable so I’m grateful for that.
