Here’s a trailer I made for ONE CAT, TWO CATS, a rhyming lift-the-flap, pop-up book with 20 cats to count, by me, Rob Hodgson and @nosycrow.bsky.social.

I hope you like the look of the book – which is OUT TODAY!! – but I can only beg your forgiveness for the music.

Sharing this for the benefit of my handful of palaeontologist followers. Although my co-author Adam Smith, who spends a lot of time politely telling people that ‘plesiosaurs are NOT dinosaurs,’ isn’t on here.

Staplers are actually in Pseudosuchia, making them more closely related to crocodiles than to dinosaurs.

Happy #DarwinDay! The closing words of On the Origin of Species are a perfect summation of why I love biology so much. (And also the only time he uses any form of “evolve”/“evolution” in the whole book.)

Happy #DarwinDay to those who celebrate it!

Charles Darwin, the scientist who made one of the greatest discoveries in human history, was born on this day in 1809.

How can our Labour government claim to be "making every effort to eliminate discrimination" while allowing state schools to discriminate against children on the basis of their religion (or lack of it )?

Both the Greens and the Lib Dems have made manifesto commitments to stop this discrimination. 👏🏼👏🏼

“Air pollution fell substantially as Paris restricted car traffic and made way for parks, people-streets and bike-lanes.”

Better for the climate, better for health, better for livability and quality of life.

Common sense.

Such a no-brainer, it’s remarkable that more cities HAVEN’T done the same.
Paris said au revoir to cars. Air pollution maps reveal a dramatic change.

Given the serious flooding in parts of Ireland today, people will be talking about climate change, but there aren’t many of us who do climate talks for kids. There needs to be *far more* effort and money put into making the subject engaging, accessible and hopeful for them.

#SpéirGhorm #SpeirGorm
This hits hard if you’ve ever talked to kids in school about climate change. Attitudes vary from blocking it out, taking an active interest and feeling a deep dread over it. Teachers are often unprepared for all the questions they get asked. 80% of my effort in talks goes into making it digestable.
