The major parties are losing their grip, and voters are the reason why.

Independents and minor parties just overtook the Liberals in primary votes with Labor in sight.

This isn’t protest, it’s rejection.

And if you keep voting like this, you’ll change the system for good.

Great article on how a German court has ruled that private companies can be held liable for their share in causing climate damages.
It's the polluter pays principle, and as such should be a no-brainer. But the fossil fuel industry has so far thought to be exempt.

One of the insane facts I discovered writing this article is that WA collects more revenue from motorists in registration than it collects from fossil fuel companies in gas royalties
Murray Watt is a perfect model of the modern Labor politician. President of Young Labor. Chief of staff for a Premier. Boss of the Qld Left. Now he’s the Environment Minister with responsibility for a critical decision. He chose to destroy the environment. www.crikey.com.au/2025/05/29/m...
Watt waves through Woodside, and Labor’s light on the hill becomes a gas flare
The newly minted environment minister faced a stark choice: protect the environment, or approve a massive fossil fuel development that will destroy the environment. He chose destruction.

In which I point out that our Prime Minister might just be stretching the truth a tad when he says that Woodside's North West Shelf extension is needed to firm the Western Australian grid.

Did he tell you about how he grew up in social housing?
Fact Check: Woodside’s North West Shelf extension isn’t needed to firm the Australian grid
It does what it says on the tin.

If Senator Murray Watt approves the North West Shelf extension, his legacy will forever be as the man who destroyed the oldest rock art on the planet.

It will be an act of vandalism so gross that nothing he can do in politics thereafter could counter the damage.
The Murujuga rock art is one of Australia's most priceless heritage sites.

And it's being slowly destroyed.

If Environment Minister Murray Watt approves the 50 year extension to the North West Shelf, it will be a death sentence for Murujuga.

Western Australia is a captured state. Captured by fossil fuel companies.

Governments MUST act for the benefit of the nation, environment, future generations. NOT for rich psychopaths & fossil fuel corporations.

Answer us this. Qld youth crime makes up 13% of total crime in the state. You ignore the 87% adult criminality. You apply the punitive measures from the larger problem to the smaller one. If those penalties aren't deterring adults why do you think they'll work on kids? #qldpol

Last year, Japan resold at least $11bn worth of Australian gas.

Japan onsells more Australian gas than eastern Australia uses, and more than our forecast domestic gas shortages.

We don’t need new gas projects. We just need to use our own gas better.

Fastest way to kill the independents movement would be to adopt reasonable socially progressive, integrity-strong, environmentally-sound and evidence-based policies.
The Liberal Party actually has a chance to win back from the Independents if they aren't tethered to the NATs and have reasonable policies

The OECD "Global Minimum Tax" proposes a global minimum Corporate tax rate of 15% (for big multi-nationals) but Even a 5% minimum tax rate would bring in billions of revenue from global corporations like PepsiCo, Mastercard, News Corp, Adani and Starbucks who pay little or no tax. #auspol
This 👇is disgraceful. No more excuses for this govt. Time to grow a spine & update the tax system so it fairly collects tax from e.v.e.r.y.o.n.e - not just low & middle income & small to med. businesses. The greedy few shld pay their fair share. Govt must take action now.

Why, for decades, has our ABC been a willing accomplice helping the IPA spread its misinformation?

Serious question.

It deserves an answer.
“IPA’s fingerprints can be found across climate denialism in Aus. “Of all the serious sceptics in Australia”, IPA exec dir John Roskam told SMH in 2010, “we’ve helped & supported just about all of them.”

The modus operandi of IPA is clear, & ruthlessly effective.”
