Writer from north Orange County. I like LA so much more it’s hilarious. LA Rams, movies, books, rad restaurants.
I think I was wrong about this one. Feel like no one cares about Elio? Disney keeps trying to appeal to young boys and it doesn't really work that often?
So, I want to talk about how good Elio is. Elio’s relationship with his Aunt Olga is structured beautifully - it weaves perfectly with his friendship with Gordon.

This movie is going to be an overwhelming favorite in Disney+.

I’ve been excited for my kid to learn the states and capitals in school because nostalgia but they’re blazing through it. It’s 5th grade, which is lot less fun than I remembered? No puzzles or songs. Just region every couple do days.

I, for one, am shocked that this administration would lie about a killing and conduct an incredibly sloppy investigation to further its fascist agenda and demonize trans people. Shocked, I say.
what the actual f---

who the hell would take leaks from the administration at face value at this point?

I haven’t seen this movie yet but I’m so pumped for it that I’m going to get the Fortnite skins even though I barely play that game.
I don’t think One Battle After Another can be over-hyped. You’re going to hear alot of what sounds like awards season hyperbole about it, but it’s not - the movie is undeniable, it really is that good. And it’s a big funny entertaining action movie, but also much more. I can’t wait to see it again.

I’ve been listening to Haim’s “I Quit” a lot lately. No skips for me. Just went back to older Billy Joel’s first albums after watching the doc. Those have a LOT of skips.

You ever hear a song that you thought was pretty good for decades and you suddenly go, “this sound is very irritating.” Anyway, Desire by U2 just played.

They’re playing Madonna’s Like A Virgin at my daughter’s gymnastics class — ages 5-6. The vibes of the parent section (all moms, grandmas, and me) got real awkward real fast.

give this guy some credit for doing something with his life when he could’ve just sat on his ass and inherited his father’s railroad empire
The bulls second round draft pick looks like he’s about to give me a sales pitch on a brand new miracle brain tonic he’s selling out of the back of his horse and carriage in the year 1892

They should do Dad screenings for F1 that are standing room only and the dads can just lurk around the theater, ten feet from the screen with their hands on their hips.

“Take Me Back” by HAIM, from their new album, really did take me back, as she name checks Kling Street, which I had an apartment at for years after college and always was difficult to find a parking spot on.

The WiFi in our home has been out since we woke up. I have decided that my TBR stack of books is Woody and my barely played VR Arkham Shadows game is Buzz.

They are gravely disappointed that I’m still dedicated to my spotty cellular connection on my phone.

Cancel culture isn't new; we've always had it. We literally write essays about it in high school for the Scarlet fucking Letter. What changed recently is who we cancel - we no longer cancel you for for being queer, using drugs, divorcing & remarrying, but for being abusive, hateful, or a sex pest.

Seems like the “keep politics out of my art” crowd are running out of art that doesn’t challenge them in any meaningful way. In related news, Morgan Wallen is very successful right now.

Did anyone else make a purchase strictly off the cardboard stand at Barnes & Noble for the middle grade book IMPOSSIBLE CREATURES? The cover is great. I’ve been reading it with my kid and it’s very good. I just haven’t talked to anyone who has even heard of it.

Took the family to see LILO & STITCH and I felt like I liked it the most. I didn't really care for the animated film and those faithful elements weren't my fav parts, but I responded to the score and the cinematography. I guess I really like the direction of Dean Fleischer Camp.

I’m not interested in ranking the Mission: Impossible films, but the Vienna Opera sequence in Rogue Nation is fantastic. Just old fashioned moviemaking at its best.

I like writing to Dire Straits because I know the songs so well that they drift into the background. But the one song that jumps out is "Your Latest Trick" because the 80s saxophone is so extra that you just have to stop everything you're doing and take notice.

Every week, before SNL starts, I spend about 30 seconds prattling on about how Jane Wickline should get more screen time. Last night I was rewarded big time. #BabyShoe

So, I saw SINNERS at the Vista last night and loved it. When I got home, I read some very well thought out criticisms that the writing was undercooked. While it all made points I agreed with, the movie was so entertaining and stunning that I kind of want to dismiss them.
