‘Lived experience’ is valued in activism – but is it doing more harm than good?
Those without direct experience of an issue can find their place in activism questioned, but an emphasis on personal testimony can shift activism away from political action, toward guilt, polarisation...

“Some caution that activists with privilege should avoid seeking redemption, doing nothing is also a problem. Through ‘constructive confession,’ guilt can become a turning point—one that fuels reflection, solidarity, and meaningful action.

@kkdumez.bsky.social you might like this thread I wrote
The complementarian argument often claims that human sexuality reflects male headship because “men penetrate and women receive.” This is used to suggest that penetration symbolises male dominance, while reception reflects female submission.

This remains the most beautiful poem I have ever read. 'Love' by George Herbert.

God as the inn keeper welcoming in the cold and weary traveller. He addresses every concern - reassuring the traveller, he's got all his concerns covered. Indeed they are covered by His all encompassing love.

This quote from a 1949 Quaker booklet pierced my heart.

"We suggest that from now on, peace will not be for the strong, but for the just, and further, that there will neither be peace until men learn to be just, nor justice until men determine to renounce violence".
