A tricky thing about modern society is that no one has any idea when they don’t die.

Like, the number of lives saved by controlling air pollution in America is probably over 200,000 per year, but the number of people who think their life was saved by controlling air pollution is zero.

As my cat has settled into his Old Man Cat form, he's started relaxing a lot more and one of the delightful things about this is Full Body Cat Hugs. If I scoop him onto my chest, he will flop his whole body onto my torso so I can give him a solid hug while he purrs and it's one of the best feelings.

The fatality rate for bird flu in cats is staggeringly high (up to 90% depending on the study).

Outdoor cats are at highest risk.

Keep your cats inside. Don’t feed them raw food. Keep them away from birds (especially water birds). Wash your hands thoroughly if you’ve been in contact with livestock
New Jersey reports H5 avian flu cluster in cats

The cats had no known exposure to infected poultry, livestock, raw milk, or raw meat, but roamed freely outdoors where they may have been exposed to wild birds or other animals.

Evergreen reminder to please use alt text, always, but *especially* when sharing images with important information.

Accessibility is critical.

Most people on here won't reshare posts without it, which means critical information isn't being shared.

We worked for months with USAID to build an $85,000,000 project to end TB in two regions of the Philippines.

The project is funded by private money, the Philippine government, and matching USAID funds.

It could provide a blueprint for eliminating TB worldwide--except it's...not happening.

Of course, we've got the Sparkling Consequences designs with even more options added in the shop. I'm honestly a huge fan of the gold text but love all the varieties.

I'm going to bump this on a regular basis. ASISTA helps persons experiencing domestic abuse/sexual assault/human trafficking who do not have documentation--who cannot call for help, go to emergency room. People being targeted by ICE. EVERY DOLLAR HELPS KEEP THEIR DOORS OPEN.
Hey, I'm going to ask your help in raising an achievable amount of money to help an organization (the head of which I have known since the age of 8) stay open. They assist immigrant survivors of domestic abuse and sexual assault. It's called ASISTA, and they need money urgently:

Huge night here at NYU. An undergrad trying to fix their grade accidentally discovered how to email 11,000 instructors on a secret group email list, unifying the faculty like no one before. I have hundreds of email replies in my inbox. And apparently Onions, the puppy, has just been granted tenure.
Someone just sent a photo of their dog, Onions, to an 11,000 person faculty listserv, adorable
