On a day famine has *finally* been declared in Gaza it is unbelievably cruel and disrespectful to those starving and those who long for this to be over for @shelaghfogarty.bsky.social to be discussing Netanyahu’s latest plan to raise Gaza to the ground and whether it’s a good “gamble” or not!

Trooping the Colour, how much do you pay for this ridiculous charade?

£20,000,000

That is 800 Nurses, 500 Doctors or 1000 Teachers.

We need all of them, we don't need this.

UK bans Ben Gvir and Smotrich for extremist views. Some will wonder why not Netanyahu who’s wanted for allegations of extremist actions and war crimes. And ultimately many may wonder how preventing them visiting the UK stops the killing and starvation of children in Gaza?

While Tory MPs chase fare dodgers around for a few quid, billions in wasteful PPE spending is being uncovered.

Perhaps if Robert Jenrick wants to catch who's really robbing the country blind, he should look within.

He refuses to call it genocide — because even acknowledging the risk would trigger legal duties and raise serious questions about complicity and criminal liability.

Instead we get mealy-mouthed theatrics from this PM.

It is a genocide and the UK is actively facilitating it.

On reflection, I realise my post might have come across as disrespectful. What I should have said is that *Sir* Keir Starmer can fuck off from a great height. My apologies for any offence caused.

It has become evident that Starmer's Labour doesn't care if it hands the next election to Reform, as they will simply continue the policies of both the Tories & Labour to their logical conclusion.

Whatever happens, fascism wins.

Every decent person in England & Wales vote Green or LibDem please.
Any time you see Labour continuing some truly horrid Tory policy, or allowing something disgusting to come in that the Tories previously set in motion, remember that they are sitting on a MONSTER MAJORITY that lets them do absolutely anything.

So whatever they're doing, it's by CHOICE.

Eighty years ago, enemies laid down their arms.

Since then, we, Europeans, have built something extraordinary: a Union of peace, democracy, and solidarity. An anchor of stability.

Our Union was born as a peace project, and it remains one today.

And then overnight, with no opportunity to object or be consulted you are told that you can’t live decently in society, you must use the facilities of your birth sex and ‘out’ yourself to strangers at every turn.

This is cruelty.

Each time he’s invited on TV or radio his ego is stroked. They allow him to get away with saying Brexit wasn’t implemented properly, he is never thoroughly challenged. Absolving him of the catastrophe that we’re all living.
What is truly amazing is why Farage is not blamed for the utter disaster of Brexit and continues to stop the UK from fixing the issues.
The longer Brexit goes on, the more baffling it becomes

In Hitler's last will and testament, dictating hours before he committed suicide, 80 years ago in April 1945, he insisted that no one had wanted war in 1939. It had been forced on him by 'international Jewry and its helpers.'
Trump has fully turned on Zelenskyy: "He's always looking to purchase missiles. Listen, when you start a war, you gotta know you can win a war. You don't start a war against somebody that's 20 times your size and then hope that people give you some missiles."

So they should.

Labour came to office promising change, but have largely delivered more of the same austerity for the poorest and the disabled, and more of the hateful language too.

No one who thought Starmer would be a sea change from the Tories should be voting for them again.

A very depressing article by @georgemonbiot.bsky.social - depressing because it’s true and the path we are on makes it likely that we will see Reform get closer and closer to power.
I found this thread by George Monbiot, as well as his article quoted, well worth a read. It gets to the heart of the problem of politics in the U.K. at the moment, and some pretty straightforward solutions staring our leaders in the face.
It's a straightforward relationship: high #inequality leads to the triumph of the far right. It will keep winning until governments deliberately seek to make societies more equal. I'm looking at you, Keir Starmer.

This would get my vote everyday of the week and twice on a Sunday!.

Come on Ed, do it!.
Watch how many people follow you!.
Every single day, it makes more and more sense for Ed Davey and the Liberal Democrats to wheel out a soapbox - perhaps a literal soapbox, since he loves his stunts - and shout: "LET'S REJOIN THE EU".

Not the CU. Not the SM. Go the whole hog and be done with it.

Millions of people will cheer.
