For those following the chaotic pepper spray discussion on my feed, this is such an interesting point from @dankaszeta.bsky.social who actually knows about this stuff!
Pushing tear gas and then pepper spray to civilians got a huge boost by…. the gun industry that saw that women were not buying or carrying enough guns in the USA do they pushed sprays as “ladylike” in order to claw some sales out of a demographic that was seen as underpaying to the gun companies
