Excited to introduce our database of icons for MDS-UPDRS-III items in Parkinson’s disease! Available at osf.io/ybcah/ in various formats for easy edits. We hope these icons help enhancing science communication. Big thanks to @andreashorn.org, @lukasgoede.bsky.social and the patients for their input!

This tool reminds us of how humbling the practice of medicine can be. Ideally, we would like to speak – una voce – with one voice especially when recommending DBS. There may however, be a paucity of data available in small disease cohorts or in those w/ rare gene mutations.

Shout out to Carlos for seeing SCAN and CON, linking it immediately to DBS in Tourette's patients and investigating his idea in this exciting study!
Is it critical to stimulate @ndosenbach.bsky.social's SCAN and CON networks for clinical improvements of Tourette's patients that undergo DBS?

Carlos Baldermann says yes in a cool new paper out in @natureportfolio.bsky.social comms today!

Love the "friends don't let friends..." repo for data visualization - one of my most cited when reviewing - and now updated for histograms
Friends don't let friends make bad graphs repo has been updated!

Friends don't let friends use histogram for small sample sizes. Bin numbers affect the appearance of histograms, thus not robust to small (and modest sample sizes). They stabilize w/ large sample sizes.

Can deep brain stimulation (DBS) applied during sleep modify memory consolidation in Parkinson's? YES. It has long been pondered that low frequency stimulation could be a 'key' to improving cognition and thinking. Setting the device to be on at 4 Hz for 25 minutes in NREM? Wow!
