i think powell's response here is a demonstration of the folly of the idea that democratic accountability requires presidential control. what if the president is not acting in the public interest? you want independent agencies to be able to push back and pursue their *congressional mandate*

As with any capital-intensive industry, one of the most important needs in the energy industry is stability. The Trump administration has been anything but stable. My industry colleagues in the off-shore wind development space have borne the brunt of this chaos.

This may explain why there’s an aggressive response to people who merely post Kirk’s own words. It threatens the existence of the alternate Kirk - the motivational speaker that had been marketed to young kids and white Christian groups through selective quotation & clips.
