Perhaps it would be good for all of us if we were all able to "put the phone in the pocket" during the workday. But I need to authenticate something like every fifteen minutes.

I don't think it's gaming. It is online extremism. Extremism appears in gaming, but you are better off looking directly at the source.
National political reporters: consult your gaming desk. You likely have a massively blind spot — this isn’t a dig at anyone, because I have this blind spot too b/c I’m not a gamer and am trying to adjust for it in real time — covering this very important moment if u don’t game & don’t know the memes

When using AI for R code, default to base R. Packages don't always save effort or prevent bugs. Use packages only if base R fails, is too slow, or produces excessive code. Base R with AI is often easier to understand, less buggy, easier to debug, and just as efficient.

New York City is always trying to throw you off the islands, out of the City, and eventually out of the metro. It's like there is a constant repulsive force related to the cost of living, space, and hassle. You hang on as long as you can because there is so much to love. But it is not free or easy.

Is Tim Hortons Canadian? | CBC News
Amid the patriotic fervour whipped up by tariff and annexation threats from U.S. President Donald Trump, the debate over whether Tim Hortons is Canadian is as hot as a double double.

Early in my career, I studied the 1970s economy and understood what happened on a logical level. I had read about it and looked at data, but did not live through it. I now understand that I did not fully appreciate the emotional effects of seeing so much going to pot at once.
Real answer: I always say that it's hard to understand how people voted in 1980 if you hadn't lived through the economic and foreign policy free-fall of the 1970s. Dems to me were the party presiding over the collapsing cities, inflation, etc., and an amok USSR. /1

It is amazing. America stood at the top as hegemon of the biggest world system ever seen in history. And then it DECIDED to wreck that system from its perch.

It is so crazy to think about how well-positioned America was across the board. And then it flipped the game board.

What I would like most is for American Jews to be out of the spotlight. Nothing good comes from us being the focus of attention.
Trump: "Schumer is a Palestinian as far as I'm concerned. He's become a Palestinian. He used to be Jewish. He's not Jewish anymore. He's a Palestinian."

The whole thing is important, but listen until the end: the US depends a lot on the flow of capital into the country because it is perceived as the safest port in a storm. Once that is no longer true, a lot of things Americans take for granted go away.
A top economics reporter goes off script on national TV: “I am going to say this at risk of my job, but what President Trump is doing is insane.”
