Putting the "So?!?" back into philosophy ('00). Leftist-ish homunculus (est. '77). Marx: right diagnosis, wrong treatment. Language & science are outside my expertise but inside my dilettantery. Yes, that's a word—ask Wittgenstein about meaning as use.
I don't know why Aaron Rodgers is trending (I guess the Steelers lost or performed poorly in some significant way), but I will say that he is a perfect counterexample for "manifesting".

He always wanted to be the smartest man in the room, he acted like he was, and yet ... he never actually was.

Permit me this reframing of the question: Did the silent oligarchy of the US convince the govt to spend trillions to turn an already failing communist country into an incontrovertible and obvious oligarchy to help bring the silent oligarchy in the US out of the shadows?

Why yes, yes they did!
Did the United States really spend trillions of dollars on winning the Cold War, only for its president in 2025 take orders from a Russian dictator?

This is an earth-shattering humiliation for America of which its reputation may never recover.

Team Golf?!

What's next, solo baseball?

Sorry, sorry ... I don't mean to offend all 15 team golf fans out there.

But not all sports need to be teamified. Nor do all sports need solofied.

Me, just now.

Scratching my pedantic itch here: but Rep. Turner's word for Russia's recent Christmas attacks in Ukraine that were without mercy (on This Week) but MRSA-less—that is, without MRSA. For which, from a public health perspective, I am grateful.

Dems taking the Senate is unlikely, but not impossible.

But Dems taking the House is more and more likely. Though, I'm not entirely sure *how* likely.
I’m curious where this kind of overconfidence comes from.

To me, most likely case is still that Republicans hold the senate, the MAGAfication of the judiciary continues, and threats to the rule of law escalate.

My problem isn't the separation shaming (though that is legit criticism).

It's Ditum helping herself to describing a phenomenon by means of anecdotes and psychobabble analysis, when it's fundamentally an empirical question only answerable by empirical means.

US Government: We're preventing the genocide of Christians in Nigeria.

Nigerian Christians: Um, we're not the only ones being killed by Boko Haram and IS. Thanks, but that's not true, though.

So any Christian church that isn't nationalist, you do realize that the XNationalists are coming for you, too. Right?

Right?!

He's too busy having his closeted Brooks Brothers clad intern pool feed him peeled grapes on his chaise longue to be able to grow a spine.

It cuts into his leisure time.
It’s George Conway. I’ve spent years calling out Donald Trump, the Republican Party, and their enablers! And if there’s one man who embodies political cowardice more than anyone else, it’s Lindsey Graham.

A cynic might see the modeling of our vaccine policy off a less racially diverse, smaller population with higher health coverage than the US as a sort of eugenics experiment.

But RFK Jr doesn't have his head so far up pseudoscience's ass that he can't tell... does he?

Should the U.S. model its vaccine policy on Denmark's? Experts say we're nothing alike
The Trump administration wants to revamp U.S. childhood vaccination recommendations to align with some other peer nations, including one tiny country in northern Europe.

I just want to point out to conspiracists that you have no problem with multiple governments actively falsifying satellite and radar data to sell Santa Claus to children.

So you don't really object to all conspiracies, just ones you aren't an active participant in.
December 25, 2025 at 4:11 PM
Yes, Laura, you are allowed to compliment children.

But when anyone whose friend who incontrovertibly raped children, starts giving unsolicited compliments on an 8 year old's *looks* ... it's bound to draw questions.

Trump only has himself to blame for the collective side eye.

Do House and Senate Dems *not* have a Slack channel to pregame responses? We've got a bunch of different approaches for response being offered up, but not any real consensus among lawmakers forming.

That takes a dearth of leadership for that to occur.

I find it ... Interesting that we're having a public discourse about CBS' journalistic ethics and none of that includes Fox News, or OANN, or Newsmax and their routine editorial decisions on what stories they run.

The ire is warranted, but I also feel like it's missing the forest for this tree.

Landy must've fallen asleep during the "Gunboat Diplomacy" lessons in high school US history, and the same lessons in Western Civ in college. Oh, and I'm pretty sure there's some jurisprudence related to Gunboat Diplomacy that he read in law school. But ... 🤷‍♂️

I don't get the hype with It's A Wonderful Life. (It's just OK, IMHO)

I have never, in my life, seen the movie from beginning to end. I'm pretty sure I've seen the whole movie, just not in one sitting.

Sure, everyone is entitled to their own opinions. But nostalgia aside, I don't understand why.

One bit of good news for the investment class ... all Trump.

All the rest of the bad news for the working class ... all Biden.

Seems formulaic at this point.
CNN: Is it Biden's economy or Trump's economy right now?

HASSETT: 4.3% GDP growth is happening because of Trump's policies, but Biden's policies did things like reduce real incomes
