Permit me this reframing of the question: Did the silent oligarchy of the US convince the govt to spend trillions to turn an already failing communist country into an incontrovertible and obvious oligarchy to help bring the silent oligarchy in the US out of the shadows?

I’m curious where this kind of overconfidence comes from.
To me, most likely case is still that Republicans hold the senate, the MAGAfication of the judiciary continues, and threats to the rule of law escalate.

My problem isn't the separation shaming (though that is legit criticism).

I find it ... Interesting that we're having a public discourse about CBS' journalistic ethics and none of that includes Fox News, or OANN, or Newsmax and their routine editorial decisions on what stories they run.

I have never, in my life, seen the movie from beginning to end. I'm pretty sure I've seen the whole movie, just not in one sitting.
