Another great day to delight in the fact that while most young men recognize Elon Musk and are exposed to news about him in some capacity, the overwhelming majority of them also think he's full of it

Thinking about the trillionaire manchild from Alien Earth who subtly misattributes an Arthur C Clarke quote to Isaac Asimov in the middle of a speech about how smart he is

From YouGov, Trump was at -40 on handling of the shutdown, but within Congress, both sides (and both wings of both parties) were taking heat. Far from clear how this impacts 2026 except to say we're no longer talking about Trump's weakest issue.

BREAKING

President Trump has granted a pardon to a slew of Trump world figures, including Rudy Giuliani, Mark Meadows, and Sidney Powell, for their efforts to overturn the 2020 election.

Not thrilled with what the need for clicks has done to our language. Was just informed by a recipe site that there is a "life-changing" way to grate cheese

Its true and they know it. Please consider supporting the Democratic Attorneys General Association, which works to ensure laws are enforced by people who actually believe in the law. 100% of $$ go straight to the Dem AGs Association.

Lets send MAGA to jail.

In tribute to the mission it is supporting, Trump booze is zero-proof, right
Coast Guard Exchanges at HQ in DC and in Centreville, VA, recently stocked Trump-branded wine and cider, according to a photo posted on Instagram and confirmed by Forbes from calls to the stores.

The Death of Stalin (2017) is hopefully timely for many reasons but among them it reminds us that the whole "democracies think in four-year timelines, autocracies think in thousand-year timelines" thing is such horseshit

I know none of this is funny, but it is so funny that the last thing Trump's fizzling neurons are capable of drooling out is one last bullshit real estate scam that would bankrupt anyone on the buying or selling end of it

The latest from YouGov: still within the MoE and strongly determined by partisanship, but only one party's rating on "handling of the shutdown" is moving the wrong direction

Schumer forcing Republicans to choose between "continue being loudly and proudly responsible for a deteriorating economy going into an election year" and "a year from now, aka the week of the midterms, remind everyone you want to get rid of their healthcare" does not strike me as "caving"
Alright you do, in fact, gotta hand it to Schumer

We haven't polled "imprisoning America's ranchers for embarrassing a politician, while bailing out competing ranchers in Argentina" but I'm going to hazard a guess it wouldn't go well
grandpa really might be cooked on the economy. if this is the best he's got it's gonna be a brutal midterm for Republicans

This is probably the best read. By putting out a scaled back ask in the midst of the pain of the shutdown, he’s giving the people with potential to waver in his caucus a place to land that’s not just at the republicans’ demands, and demonstrating that republicans won’t accept even a smaller ask.

Recent polling ( x.com/birenbomb/st... ) shows James Talarico rising in the Texas Senate primary.

@ymriofficial.bsky.social did a deep dive on his messaging strategy - give it a read to understand the state of play here in Texas.

Good analysis from @gelliottmorris.com -- it is widely assumed that groups who drifted right in 2024 are irredeemable, must be scorned and abandoned, will never come back from the grips of their MAGA infatuation.

Most of them voted Dem on Tuesday.

The 2024 Trump "realignment" is over already
Claims of a conservative realignment of non-whites, the working class, and young voters have been highly exaggerated
