… couldn’t be happier for him. A bona fide legend, for club and country, and, quite clearly, a wonderful human being. Have a bevvy lad and go tear it up in Disneyland.

What's happening to the champions?

I've taken a look at some of the patterns that explain Liverpool's start to 2025-26.

It's a long read on long passes, pressing, possession, set-plays, away form and more - and it's free at the link below. #LFC

What's happening to the champions?
Six trends, from long passing, to pressing, to away form.

It's quite simple really. He is, and always has been, out of his depth.

FT 3-0. Only Dom comes out of it with any credit.

HT 2-0. It's a dreadful performance, but no denying it would be a different ball game if this was officiated competently.

Wirtz for Gakpo in this magnitude of match.

Have Sunderland brought the advertising boards closer to the pitch? So clever if they have.

While I think the long-term plan is probably still to get Florian in central areas, Dom never deserved to be displaced from that attacking midfield spot and he gives so much to our press off the ball.

Keep what works, and add to it.
🇭🇺 Arne Slot impressed by Dominik Szoboszlai:

"He's been outstanding throughout the season but past two games have brought even more out of him. Dominik has a lot of qualities, I really like his work without the ball."

Underrated part of the game last night was Conor Bradley deciding to show off his passing range. Even those that didn't find a teammate created favourable situations for us.

This is more like the REAL liverpool!

A more compact approach off ball, with a new passing structure on ball, getting rewards in a big game!

Mo Salah completed more dribbles (5) vs Aston Villa than *the rest of his 25/26 season combined*.
5 more vs Real tonight, so 10 in 2 games matching the total from his previous 20 (twenty) #LFC appearances

Saturday was very good. Tonight was magnificent.

Two Spanish managers beaten within a few days. How are you fixed on Sunday, Liverpool?

Up the Reds.

Funnily enough, that cameo that Gakpo had as the central strike was his best performance of the season as well.
