The fact that this wasn’t rejected wholesale, should scare the hell out of everyone. The Supreme Court and the Republicans are gearing up to rewrite the literal essence of America to suit their fascist whims.

We are at the “the courts are pinning the entirety of the judicial system on their hopes and dreams that the autocrat will not wholly destroy their power to consolidate his own” portion of the descent into open dictatorship and the construction of techno fascist totalitarian state
Whew, this conclusion from the Fourth Circuit:

"We yet cling to the hope that it is not naïve to believe our good brethren in the Executive Branch perceive the rule of law as vital to the American ethos."

It’s another giant retrenchment for the billionaire, who had already slashed his climate grant budget last month. heatmap.news/climate/brea...

I think one of the most important things folks can learn to do going forward is “say no.”

Folks instinctively want to be helpful, to give information unnecessarily, to share.

Don’t be helpful to authoritarianism.
You must overcome your conditioning.

You were not born to enrich a billionaire. You were not born to have the surplus of your labor sold off in parts to your bosses and the US military industrial complex.

The government is stealing hours of our lives for genocide and terror.

Mutual aid is not just a disaster response, it’s a way of caring for one another, building stronger communities, and preparing for whatever life may throw at us next. It’s a labor of love—and a way of life.

I put together a reading list (and words of advice) for LitHub: lithub.com/we-only-have...
We Only Have Ourselves: The How-Tos and DOs and DON’Ts of Mutual Aid
For all of humanity’s many, many flaws, one of our most redeeming characteristics as a species is an almost-universal desire to connect with one another. When terrible things happen and communities…

invoking a “wartime military” to suspend civilian domestic law sounds a lot like the creation of a rightwing police state to me.
The 212(f) authority can "suspend entry" but cannot deny asylum access to people already on US soil.

The executive order tries to justify this with an absurd idea that unarmed, non-state, leaderless people with humanitarian needs constitute an “invasion” under Article IV of the Constitution. (1/2)
