A wildfire in California has grown to more than 52,000 acres since sparking on Wednesday, causing evacuation orders to be issued in San Luis Obispo County, about 120 miles northwest of Los Angeles.
The Madre Fire is the state’s biggest so far this year.

The cruelty of this is, genuinely, staggering. This is a policy that saves virtually no money whatsoever whose success is measured in the number of children it kills.
