Virginia friends, our senator Tim Kaine needs to hear our reaction to his vote on the funding bill last night loud and clear. I tried calling his office this morning but didn't get through yet. Here's his online form: www.kaine.senate.gov/contact/shar... What I just sent is in the replies.

I don't know how you all are going to feel about this but, although otherwise I voted a straight democratic ticket, I left Attorney General blank. Could not get past the violent text messages.

Good morning Virginia! Good morning 5th district folks! Polls are open. You know what to do. It’s a great day to vote!

I’ve heard some calls to demolish the ballroom as soon as we take back the white house. I think my preference would be to put an absolutely enormous black history museum in it.

Thousands out in Charlottesville for #NoKings . Much bigger than last time. Nonstop honks of support. This photo is just our little corner well out from the main group. Really proud that my elementary age son chose to join me this time. Here’s his sign!

www.msnbc.com/deadline-whi... extraordinary level of grand jury pushback against the Trump DOJ. I have some familiarity with the grand juries and the ham sandwich thing really is true. The average juror is extremely deferential to prosecutors, and these cases don’t even clear that lowest of bars.
Not guilty verdict in ICE case sends stark message to Trump DOJ’s political prosecutions
It’s not only grand jurors who have rejected the Trump administration’s charges. A trial jury just did the same.

Let’s brainstorm some sign ideas for the No Kings protest on October 18. I’m thinking about “Make racial profiling illegal again.”

What is interesting about RFK saying that “40 to 70 percent” of parents of children with autism believe that their children were harmed by a vaccine is: making some standard assumptions you can say that the sample size of whatever survey we’re now basing national policy on was about 43 respondents

Something we’ve been doing already is rotating streaming services. Seems obvious in hindsight that you don’t have to keep paying them while there’s nothing you want to watch on them. Given the Kimmel decision I think Disney plus is due to be rotated out, indefinitely.

These absolute gymnastics by the right on free speech and cancel culture are a good opportunity to get clear on first principles. Private citizens can punish whatever speech they want, with their own speech, or their economic decisions. The government can restrict only incitement to violence.

1/2: Our kids have really gotten into the lite/basic version of D&D I'm playing with them. The 9yo's lawyerly nature and the 7yo's wild imagination combined in a great way. 9yo was reading bits of the manual I printed out for him...

Getting a lot of spam texts like this lately: “Hi, Michelle, I just came back from a trip to Italy. When can you send my dog to the Ritz-Carlton Hotel tomorrow? Thank you.” No no, thank you wealthy bon vivant who has serendipitously crossed my path, for the writing prompt!

We need an HHS Secretary who respects science and does not make policy based on conspiracy theories.

Vaccines are safe and effective.

Kennedy is threatening the health of our kids and all Americans.

He must resign.

Can I just throw out there that I want the books my kids read to feature gay and trans people in the approximate proportions they occur in the population, in an age appropriate way? Such a radical position to want them to learn about various humans who exist, I know.

Man this Overton Window shift is killing me. I hate that it now seems like the radical left position is to get the government to follow proper procedure while they ship human beings back to the places that were killing them. My position is that we are here on this earth to care for everyone.

Thinking about the fact that women have only been able to vote in the US for 105 years. However f’d we are now, can you imagine how much worse it would be if they still couldn’t?

I think the idea that “The President is simultaneously an institution beyond the reach of criminal law and also a private person who can file $10 billion defamation suits when he dislikes a news article” is not very sensible.

One of the tenets of conservativism is to not fund anything because it'll be abused by those who can get away with it. How do they say they know? Because they would abuse it if they could. Their whole platform is: I'm a terrible person.
The only political split that matters - feed everyone on the off chance one person is hungry, or feed no one on the off chance someone undeserving might get fed
