Who, me?

If you need to know anything about me just listen to 'A Plague of Lighthouse Keepers' by Van der Graaf Generator. If you don't have 23 minutes to spare, 'Outcast' by Mike Oldfield will do in a pinch

The thing is cars go artificially fast actually. That's their whole deal
I care about the harm to my sanity and schedule for being forced to go artificially slow

Witchfire rules. The art direction is immaculate, the gunplay comfortably rivals Destiny without skimping on depth, and the RPG/Roguelite elements are genuinely unique. The commitment to offline singleplayer is also admirable in this day an age. Game's unbelievable and isn't even done
Ooh, big update for Witchfire adding melee weapons today.

This game is what happens when a bunch of Destiny super-fans decide to make something that *isn't* a live-service Forever Game. Very similar feeling combat but with almost all the fat cut out.

Single-player only, BTW. No multiplayer plans.

[Sees you tying a rope to a tree] Hey my man alone, born of stone, you better not be thinking of hanging the universe until the winds of laughter grows cold. Watch yourself or I might have to draw my blade of compassion kissed by countless kings whose jeweled trumpet words blind my sight

This was the year I finally got good enough at Devil May Cry 5 to start making serious progress in DMD. I'm doing sicko things in that game that I'd have thought impossible a year ago
Fuck Geoff, whats YOUR Game of the Year? I don't even care if it came out in 2025, what was THE game that got you through the last 12 months

I'm going with Rimworld, the new expansion absolutely sucked me back in like an endless vacuum, just typing this makes me want to play ig again

36 hours without power. On the plus side, I beat my "most hours slept in one go" PB, which was previously just over 24

It's borderline insulting when it recommends me stuff in my native language that's been dubbed in English just because I like to use English UI across my devices. I don't need this! People can speak more than one language, Mr. Google, despite your best efforts
The newest unwelcome Youtube feature is "auto-dubbing" turned on by default. Watch video of a Japanese game, and suddenly a fakey voice is speaking over it. It's not that the uploader is speaking over it, it's Youtube translating what the audio is saying, without telling you.

My favorite part of writing is every so often you get to use words that are so obscure the spell-checker doesn't even recognize them. Today's word is "emanata"

Not sure that complaining about a work being "heavy handed" counts as real criticism. God forbid art and media have convictions about stuff it's trying to say. Plus you know these folks would also complain about ambiguity if these were presented more subtly

I have a lot of problems with Borderlands as a franchise but one of the things I like a lot about it is that the art direction never tries to make "backwoods sci-fi in a penal colony planet" look sleek or stylish. Pandora looks like a garbage dump because in a lot of ways it literally is one
i think the thing most sci-fi universes get wrong is that a lot of them are trying to be cool and george lucas implicitly understood that it needs to look cool, lived in, and also everything's kinda weird enough for the audience to go "woah what is WEIRD" and gawk at it

Watched the little homestuck cartoon on youtube and I got the idea that homestuck was a weird slice-of-life webcomic where mundane real-world tasks work under videogame systems/logic, then found out it's apparently not that and now I'm disappointed but also have a neat idea

Real human interaction was getting dicey for a sec there so I decided to ask my best friend Google LLC, a subsidiary of Alphabet Inc.
I decided that you lack the spirit to be worth further engagement, so I had the conversation w/ Gemini 3 Pro, instead.

You can see it here: gemini.google.com/share/34668f...

They hide reasoning chains in public share URLs, so attaching a few screenshots to show ya.

Best of luck, Kathryn! <3

It really is amazing that Neil Cicierega made it so that seeing this image traps you in a pocket dimension where you hear the entirety of 'Two Trucks' before spitting you back out

Anyone who wants to argue for LLMs being "conscious" really needs to try and run one of these things locally. You'll get to see how the sausage is made through context limits, system prompts and the transformer parameters, stuff that is deliberately hidden to obfuscate how this stuff works
I have heard the question over and over, like a gotcha: "How can you possibly prove conclusively that an LLM *isn't* a human-level intelligence?"

And I believe I now have an answer to this: an LLM cannot be a human level intelligence because it cannot possibly derive the meaning of its inputs

Anyway, all my characters are canonically made of antimatter. Which means that no, you can't boink them

If you find yourself thinking in more jaded and cynical ways as you get older, you need to understand that every adult who's ever done you a kindness when you were young had these same feelings and more. 'Magic' doesn't just happen, it's a choice
Because you're an adult you fucking muppet. You gotta pay the magic forward.

This is the best post I've ever seen on the internet. It's so far beyond insane that you can't even block stuff like this, you gotta keep it around to look at and remind yourself you weren't hallucinating when you saw it
At the VERY LEAST Metroid Prime 4 had a safety net of having a clear development time and being slightly easier to achieve due to it already having groundwork in the original Prime trilogy.

Kingdom Hearts III was just a part of a growing list of Disney's broken promises.

Linux bros out here completely failing at the basic rhetorical task of evangelizing the OS/kernel. FOSS philosophy? Digital freedom? Performance gains? Who gives a shit, the best thing about Linux is that updating your system doesn't brick your workstation for most of the day

Just found cobwebs in my wardrobe. Now there's two ways to look at this: 1) They've been there so long that the spider is already dead and gone or 2) I'm about to throw away a lot of clothes

Yeah man, I sure can. I get stabbing eyeball pain if I eat hotdog sausages now. My back hurts and I have a full beard

Using Git on Obsidian to keep track of my writing is very cool. It's neat having essentially a whole timeline of my progress. Also it's very funny when the commit looks like this
