In 1982, computers were beginning to take off in Europe. Consoles were also around, but they and their games were comparatively expensive in what were hard times for most. However, if you were reasonably well off and could afford a 2600, these are likely what you'd want for Xmas.

35 years ago I was having tons o' fun with SMS Mickey Mouse. Really nice graphics, great tunes, and mega-addictive platforming action made this a Master System must. If you're a fan of Sega's classic 8-bit machine and don't have this excellent title in your collection, get it!

I was 8 when I was given a 48K ZX Spectrum and starting tinkering away straight away - I can still remember a lot of what I did in great detail. Annoyingly too, I've lost also all of of my graph paper doodles of speccy graphics, not sure where they went but again a few bits survive...

PS2 hits a quarter century! One of my all-time fave consoles and the only old hardware I use regularly because I love its stellar arcade compilation packs. Feels like it was a watershed between old and modern gaming eras. Many great games on this system. What are your top picks?
