Since it's in the 80s here, I guess this bird isn't floofed because it's cold. I think it's probably a juvenile northern cardinal.

Wanted to give a shout out to the merlin app.heard a different bird call a few days ago and merlin identified it as a summer manager. So I started taking pics of distant cardinals, and this one turned put to be a tanager!

Dear all foreign friends outside the United States,

Our country is big. Like really big. Like so much bigger than you ken. Our states are bigger than many countries, and there's 50 of them.

So when you wonder why we are not all marching on DC

I live 2,500 miles (4000 km) from the White House

The bluebird of happiness. Bluebird dad's share diaper duties. Here's Fred flying off with a fecal sac from the nest. They feed a bug then remove waste in the same trip.

Mama left for a bit, and the little one is indeed hatched. They don't look like anything but a tiny(a bit smaller than a marble) little lump of flesh at this point.

I checked the nest an hour later to see if was hatched yet. Mama was back on the nest and was eating an eggshell, so it obviously finished hatching.
