Stop talking about immigration like undocumented migrants are just too lazy and flippant to fill out a simple, straightforward form. As an immigrant to the UK, I spent ~£8,000 on various application fees, legal fees for an appeal after my application was denied, and other related costs.

Just thought I'd share these stats from upcoming lecture:

With $1 billion, it would take 548 years spending $5,000 (~£3,830) a day to run out of money--that’s > mean monthly wage in the UK (£3,185) every day.

Musk alone could give $40 to every person globally.. & still have $1 billion.

If you want people to make #HealthyChoices, make it easy to do so.

In the US, it's very challenging to compare #NutritionFacts because label units aren't standardised. Take these cracker labels. Info is per 30g, 154g, 28g, 16g, & 14g. Which has the fewest calories per gram? Highest protein?

📢 UK Parliament Call for Evidence Submission

Based on the in-depth fieldwork and insights from evidence-rich data, @foodequity.bsky.social has submitted their take on the latest call for evidence on 'Innovation and Global Food Security'.

When I see requirements (from reviewers, funders, etc.) to motivate research in terms of economic benefits/ #commercialisation, I want to scream. #PublicGoods often have far-reaching economic benefits, but this should be a perk, not the driving reason. #PublicHealth #Science #ProfitCorrupts

'bout time. And yet, no doubt the still-to-be-announced 'new tapered system' will also be appalling and ultimately punitive 🙄😕

Gee, it's almost like disability and other social protection programs *aren't* the thing that's wasting taxpayer money 🤔🙄 maybe we should stop deifying industrialists while resenting marginalised people for simply trying to survive... Just a thought.

Every once in awhile, after an extended period of diligent self-care, I feel relatively ok & think 'maybe the docs who treated me like a hypochondriac before my diagnosis were right.' Then I disrupt my routine for even one day & my body forcefully screams 'Nope, you have a disability, fool.'

Shame on you, #SCOTUS conservatives. You took an oath to support the Constitution then treated it like toilet paper. You do know that oath includes the amendments, right? Like this pesky little bit about equal protection under the law, for example. You evil, feckless, vile, weak little cronies 🤮😡
