Love this, love this. This kind of subtle light is so hard to capture in paint and it’s so well done here. Scrumptious.

Changes in Google Scholar that worry me:
1: Advertising search via AI on the homepage. 2: The surge in Academia.edu article hosting, a platform that is heavily invested in venture capital and huge corporations.

One thing I’m unsure about with using AI to perform biology/medicine work is, how is it trained? I think there’s a benefit to using massive data to help discover things quickly, but if we’re training it to look at it the same things we do the same way, are we not just replicating our blind spots?

Every time I get into an argument about discrimination against women in the workplace, I end up in the same tired spiral. No, it’s not about achieving 50/50 m/f ratios in every career field. It’s about THIS kind of harassment no longer being a part of the experience for any woman in any field.
POV: you are a young woman celebrating a recent academic success

My paper “Testing Theories of Threat, Individual Difference, and Ideology” is a winner of the Student Publication Award this year. I’m proud of this one, because it shows that if we ask interesting questions and use rigorous methods, we can contribute to ~science~ even when we’re wrong or 1/2 right!
SPSP is thrilled to announce the winners of our 2025 Student Awards! Congratulations to the recipients of our Heritage Dissertation Research Prize, Jenessa Shapiro Graduate Research Award, and Student Publication Prize.

Despite rich theory on links between temperament and personality, they're rarely studied together. This has left major unaddressed questions.

We tackled these questions by looking at how temperament and personality develop together from ages 10-26.

I assume it’s normal in academic writing to go from feeling happy and confident and on a roll to sick with anxiety and like what you’ve written might actually be the worst, with those 2 feelings on an endless loop?
