My advice is to ignore anyone telling you to get a road bike or anything that requires clip-on shoes or special equipment. Get something that doesn’t strain your back or shoulders and with fenders and a rack so you can get groceries. Prioritize comfort over speed.

New government funding will support the development of tens of thousands of socially rented homes a year. Plus, the descent of Assent

We're really excited to welcome local resident Luke Murrow as the Labour Party candidate for Crossgates, Swarcliffe and Whinmoor!

After many dedicated years, Cllr Pauleen Grahame has decided to retire, and we hope the community will back Luke to join our team at the May '26 local elections 🌹

Very emotional and proud heading into my final week as Cabinet member for Housing at LCC - so much has been achieved by these incredible teams, and it's been an honour to be part of the city's leadership for the last few years. Excited about what happens next 🏘️🌱🙌

So it wasn't fireworks. It was a calculated and deliberate attempt at the mass murder of men, women and children.

Freezing Local Housing Allowance ultimately lowers living standards for low-income private renters.

Other income boosts cannot compensate for the loss experienced from LHA failing to keep up with rents.

This is a huge moment and has been so long in the making - these standards and protections will make a massive difference to the decency and security of housing for this country's over 5 million households living in private rented homes.

Govt must now intervene to cap rents within tenancies.
The Renters' Rights Bill has been APPROVED by the House of Commons!

This is the final step before the Bill receives Royal Assent, which we expect shortly.

No more amendments, no more debate - renters' rights are coming.

Apropos of nothing, I really do think UK journalists and politicians need some reminding that mass deportation of LEGAL immigrants, particularly those with permanent status, is far more extreme than even Trump's America and would basically place Britain completely on its own among democracies.

I sincerely hope this doesn't result in a downgrading of the £39bn affordable programme, and commitment to 60% social rents. Flinging resources at developers to throw up private housing as quickly as possible will neither meet this target, nor deliver what's needed to meet the housing emergency.
