Affordability, housing, building power, changing the world, hbu? Award-winning Ann Arbor AF pod cohost. I hug buildings.♀️,✊🏼, 🌈,🌱, amquerying. She/her.
Can’t say this enough. “Luxury” housing is either branding by developers or low-information/bad-faith anti-housing advocacy by community members.

We do all levels of housing affordability a service when we know and can speak accurately about what market-rate housing is.
well here is the thing, if i didn’t say this was public housing, you could easily think it was “luxury,” which gets to the larger point that “luxury” housing is just a marketing term. what makes homes expensive are a host of factors, including and especially extant supply constraints.

I’m at a Women In Tech event tonight specifically to talk up public boards and commissions!

Think you don’t know enough? Yes you do.

Think you don’t have enough time? It’s probably a smaller commitment than you think.

Think it’s not for people like you? You are EXACTLY who should get involved!
And if people are concerned about whether they’d have the time to be on a board.. you do. Ours meets once a month and it’s been one of the best experiences I’ve had getting to know our librarians and helping to aim the library towards its best possible future.

Listen.
The nature of abolitionist work, as it applied to my heart, meant treating no one like they were disposable... which was hard to apply to myself. But I think the way I've fought for my health and protection means that maybe I really believe it. I can have a place in the future I'm helping to build.

Morning Bluesky!

Since #academicsky & #abolition are finding their way here, I'm sharing a resource - I created a course on Police Brutality in the US in 2020 with tons of content, conversation guides & tools - it's all Creative Commons and can be used whole or in part in your courses.

Honestly bless Ann Arbor for being the kind of town where you can hire a woman owned repair service to send handy and rad queer folks to fix all our shit, even if it adds additional danger of farts breaking audible containment

When people ask how I am, I keep telling them that I am fine, not fine, fine.

I even had it in my email signature for a while.

I, too, want a word that means okay and not okay

Hey bsky besties, please vote for this session!! @jessicaletaw.bsky.social is one of the community catalysts I admire most and I need her and her wisdom to get this platform, for all of our cities and towns struggling with housing issues. vote vote vote ✨
When I'm not on the internet, I spend about 107% of my time talking about housing: the issues, the levers of change, and how anyone in any community can get involved in making things better.

Now I wanna do that at SXSW. Vote for me! Please! https://panelpicker.sxsw.com/vote/132207

Had an *intense* dream about being the staff manager for a women’s NCAA volleyballpong team. I’m not sure what school but it was the Big 10 conference. In Amsterdam. The dream was a series of vignettes of interacting with frontline staff during playoff seasons.
