Woke up, listened to Anna von Hausswolff and decided I was going to learn how to make an interesting drumline. Within seconds of opening Ableton I had clicked synths and had completely forgotten what I was here to do.

Tonight I made "visual novel background music" which is not the height of where I hope I can go musically, but is the first time I have used a real DAW and figured out how to make music in it.

Barker called me up one night and without preamble said "It's opinions, not onions. Not onions. This is Clive Barker. I've been trying to track down and stop this error in editions for decades. OPINIONS."
(It wasn't until Jeff and Ann VanderMeer were working on their anthology The Weird that I learned that "onions" is a typo. Either Jeff or Ann mentioned to me that Barker asked them to fix the typo that had haunted the story in countless reprintings, incl in their own earlier antho The New Weird.)

Been slowly learning different parts of a software synth through Syntorial and really struggling lately at bringing it all together.
Today I unlocked a sub oscillator, and got all green on the first group patch without getting stuck at all. Feels amazing!

I've been dealing with health problems for years, and pursued a few different treatment paths with my doctor (lifestyle changes, medication etc.) none of which have resolved it.
Today I was formally diagnosed with Severe Obstructive Sleep Apnea and am on the path to treatment.

Watched Before Sunrise for the first time tonight and it really is an all-timer.
It's nice now that I'm older and my life is a little narrower to reconnect with the wide open possibility space of youth and romance. A reminder to keep the spirit of that alive even now.
