And autism was never something to be so terrified of that you avoid vaccines for preventable childhood diseases that could disable or kill you and others

The inherent ableism of this strain of anti-vaccinationism has always been acute
FYI, vaccines do not cause autism.

The police and ICE are on the same side, guys.

Organize and call your neighbors, not agents of the state.

WE WON. I am *begging* you to take note of who did this. *Not* UCLA admin—they’re still scuttling around behind closed doors, attempting to appease—but FACULTY AND STAFF, led by AAUP.
BREAKING: In AAUP et al v. Trump (wall-to-wall union lawsuit challenging the administration’s unlawful use of TItle VI to reshape the University of California system), the faculty and staff of the UC system WON!!!

We were granted our preliminary injunction! @aaup.org

As of this morning, Starbucks workers across the country are officially ON STRIKE. And we're prepared for this to become the biggest and longest ULP strike in Starbucks history.

Say #NoContractNoCoffee with us: DON'T BUY STARBUCKS for the duration of our open-ended ULP strike! $SBUX

I'm at the "feeling burnt out" part of the semester, which I feel like pretty regularly happens right around weeks 12-14 (we have 16wk sems here). But my online American Lit survey students did a WONDERFUL job discussing the first eight chapters of *Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl* yesterday.

This, to me, is the most remarkable news of the night
NEW: Mississippi Democrats broke the Republican Party's supermajority in the state Senate tonight for the first time since 2011.

It came as Democrats flipped 2 Senate seats and 1 House seat.

“Mississippi just broke the supermajority—and the people have taken back their power,” the party says.

I better not read a single damn word of hagiography from anyone who fancies themself as "pro-democracy" or "anti-fascist" for Dick Cheney this week.

General reminder that you have no obligation to "not speak ill of the dead" when the dead were monstrously murderous in life!

Any policy position short of "Abolish ICE" is a non-starter at this point.
New incredible detail here: ICE says a match in its facial recognition app Mobile Fortify is a "definitive" determination of a person's status, and that this overrides birth certificates. This is an app ICE is using in the field to scan people

lol Matty Y's latest is on how any big coalition will have bigots in the big tent and buddy, we know. When I say letting bigots into the big tent will shrink it, it's shorthand for courting bigots by treating their bigoted positions as valuables.
There are issues we can compromise on! But if you let bigots into the “big tent” you’re actually shrinking it because you’ve just told whole demographics that they’re not really welcome.

It’s hard to convey just how much Chicagoans are mobilizing against ICE. Don’t want to downplay the harm, or make it seem like a fair fight. But in neighborhoods across this city, ICE is getting chased by people blowing whistles and shouting. People are running TOWARD ICE to protect their neighbors.
