I don't think people in general have wrapped their heads around just how much exploitation trans-friendly youth shelters prevent just by being affirming. If every change in this bill goes into effect, youth homelessness will explode at the exact same time every possible support ceases to exist.
This one is ridiculously disgusting. Ohio will defund YOUTH HOMELESS SHELTERS if they support transgender youth. Ohio legislators, Brian Stewart especially (a primary sponsor of this bill) care more about how a kid identifies than making sure they aren't dying on the street. 3/5

🚨 A new rule would let career scientists like NSF/NIH program officers be replaced by political appointees

Already 14,000+ public comments, deadline is Friday

📣 Comments can be short. Courts consider them—and scientists with NSF/NIH experience are especially impactful

If a student you know received an honorable mention for the NSF GRFP, encourage them to contact their Congressional representatives! 🧪
Honorable mention here — they said this in the email:

“Although the agency is unable to offer fellowship support at this time, a subsequent announcement of additional awardees is possible subject to finalization of the agency's fiscal year 2025 spend plan”

Let me get this straight: we can't "afford" to track disease, research cures or make sure food and drugs are safe, but we can afford to spend $4.5 trillion on tax breaks that mostly go to the rich?

There has been a shift in the Trump team's language in their anti-DEI attacks. All of a sudden they started calling it "DEIA", with the A being "accessibility". If you don't think it's a coordinated effort to remove disabled people from every facet of life, well I have news for you.
