No one, nothing, nowhere.
A system that protects sex traffickers connected to power
cannot be trusted to:

Prevent ecological collapse

Manage inequality humanely

Avoid large-scale war

Protect the vulnerable in future crises

That doesn’t mean it will collapse tomorrow. It means its promises are not credible.

We bring on Saka, big Gabs, and Timber and we score a second. What a run by Timber. Harriman-Annous has been so tidy. He deserved the goal but a Saka goal is always welcome.

What a beautiful goal.

This post is absolutely delicious. The comments section is beautiful.
Zohran Mamdani caught lying that he understood Plato’s allegory of the cave, yet when asked to explain it, he seemed to instead explain Baudrillard’s theory of Simulacra and Simulation where reality has been replaced by symbols and signs, which seems similar to Plato’s theory but is not the same

Dowman is too slick. He Mosquera and Ben White had good first half performances. Eze hasn't been involved enough. Nwaneri hasn't been as sharp. Skelly started slow but has grown into the game. Merino Nørgard, Hincapié and Harriman-Annous could do a bit more.
Half time stats aren't good enough.

Max Dowman practicing the Saka hop. Ben White with that run. It's been quite interesting so far.

I am not surprised that we hit a tipping point in climate change and then my home gets wrecked by the storm of the century.

She hasn’t so much has wobbled. This storm is insane.'

I don't want 2 live no more.
Sometime I hear death knocking at my front door.
I'm living every day like a hustle,
Another drug to juggle.
Another day another struggle.

We are getting endlessly gaslit by lobbyists funded by very rich people who want to get even richer on the back of destroying the planet and generally making life a lot shitter for the rest of us than it needs to be,
When the power went out in Spain this spring, many people immediately pointed the finger at the country's solar and wind power as the cause.

That wasn't the trigger, but a new survey finds that all that misinformation?

It had an impact.

After Spain's blackout, critics blamed renewable energy. It's part of a bigger attack
When millions lost power in Spain and Portugal this spring, some were quick to blame too much solar and wind power. That wasn't the cause, but the misinformation had an impact.

Ever the optimist, I can't help thinking that the current rise in the price of gold presages something really, really bad happening in the relatively near future.
Early this morning, gold hit a “historic milestone” as it climbed above $4,000 a troy ounce for the first time. Gold prices have already risen by more than 50% this year.

What’s driving this record run? An #FTEdit 🧵

The relentless short-termism and stupidity that pervades our politics can be attributed to three things, IMO:
1. Politicians and broadcasters believing the right wing press speaks for England.
2. The Westminster bubble.
3. Our electoral system.
They are all very closely linked.

I think we need to get this political party signed up for psychiatric evaluation. At the very least don't leave them unattended.
Studying the language and literature that has helped to define our nation at home and around the world for centuries is a "rip-off" apparently

Because we don't think it could ever happen here we are saying absolutely nothing as it happens here. If the right wins in 2029, their promise is the mass deportation of millions and the end of human rights. The right currently enjoys 50%+ support. The silence on this is absolutely extraordinary.

This entirely dishonest headline explains why Starmer and co have been hesitant about making the moral case against Reform. The government is subject to relentless bad faith reporting that’s then magnified by the broadcasters. But fear should never stop you doing the right thing.
