This speed skating relay is mad. Like a human murmuration.

I would love to see Romero have a crack at short-track speed skating.

That’s a top turnout from Brighton fans.

Hah. That is going to boil all the right urine.

While we’re on the subject of refs and VAR, this Villa-NUFC game a good example of how players are almost constantly cheating and trying to get away with breaking the laws. Shearer, demanding officials ‘do their jobs’ had little to say on this, of course.

Villa goal clearly offside, but no VAR, so it stands. Good.

From Firle Beacon. Not too shabby.

Prince William reportedly wanted his uncle out because he was ‘a stain on the family’, and ‘a threat to the monarchy.’ So it’s not about the victims after all, eh?

When Labour came to power in 1997, a staggering 283,866 people were waiting 6 months or more for an operation.

By 2007 the number was down to 199.

Just one astonishing fact I came across while recording this and it's a reminder that government really can change things - for the better.
As the rat infested Palace of Westminster literally sinks into the mud, there's talk that British parliamentary democracy might follow suit.

It's all lightness and larks in my latest for @noosphere.app

If a Brazilian can lead in the giant slalom then Spurs can string a few passes together and get over the halfway line.

Just checking, it's now ok to flee your homeland, because you're afraid for your safety, and seek refuge in another Country?

Glad we've cleared that up. Let's hear no more about immigration and refugees then.

The system that made the US the richest, most powerful country the world has ever seen was all wrong, says US government.
Rubio speech at MSC—in short: US sees global trade, diplomacy, migration, immigration, global institutions and global affairs in general as a “foolish post-WWII mistake” and invites Europe “so save itself by each protecting sovereignty, closed borders, and Christianity” alike Trump’s America.

Any road. That NLD takes on even more significance. Imagine if by some miracle Tudor wins it? Brass bands on the High Rd and flypasts by the Edmonton & District Paragliding Majorettes. Imagine if he loses it? Not hard to. Performance will likely be everything, even if the result won't.

Some idle thoughts: does a body of 'elite' pro footballers really need a manager, interim or otherwise, to win 3/4 games out of 12 to stay up? Is it really beyond their wit to do that? Or how about a DoF stepping in to pick the team? Isn't that how hierarchies and structures are supposed to work?

Two weeks ago, Peter Mandelson told us he had no recollection of planning to buy a £2m apartment in Rio via a Panama holding company and a Brazilian company.

Yesterday we found notarised incorporation documents for the Brazilian company, with Mr Mandelson's signature.

No offence but a very strong whiff of supply teacher about Igor Tudor. No PL experience for a club in a freefall and morale at rock bottom? I mean, wish him well, but. Blimey.

The secret of great comedy is timing so here's your truly wanging on about the better old days for Spurs. Part of @rcfoster.bsky.social's excellent Started With A Kick pod. And yes, my first proper game was at Highbury. Treat it as a confessional/near-death experience.
As Thomas Frank departs it’s apt that this week’s episode features Spurs fan and writer @adampowley.bsky.social whose first game was at, of all places, Highbury. Find out more here - bit.ly/3Mcm0sJ

Ratcliffe says immigrants cost too much, while Ineos lobbies for state funding
Billionaire’s business has in recent years claimed UK and EU support for refineries and chemicals plants worth about €800m
