This is YouTube's latest & it's an accessibility crime. The contrast ratio is 2:1 which is just should be a non-starter. Some clever person on the youtube team though that putting a tiny little shadow on the text would fix it but even then the contrast comes in at 3:1.

A great talk from @jenson.org on why and how to move the desktop paradigm forward. I especially loved the prototypes/concepts; even if not perfectly refined it’s still nice to see someone put some stakes in the ground. (And FWIW I think they were all pretty solid!)
I must be doing BSky wrong because my engagement here is FAR below what I'm getting on Mastodon. Of course, I have 2x followers on Mastodon, but even taking that into account, my engagement here isn't even close.

Another simple #UX design foiled by poor execution. The "go" button fails to register a firm press, you must only lightly "tap" the button for it to work. My wife was completely confused and couldn't figure out why the kettle wasn't working.

The original Mac had a screen that was roughly the same size as a modern iPad Mini. So many fundamental desktop #UX features, like overlapping windows and a global menu bar, make so much more sense given that constraint.

I like BlueSky but having worked in the Fediverse for awhile, it's clear it's a MUCH bigger lift for BSky to actually have multiple servers at this point. It's not impossible, just saying it's likely going to take awhile.

This is really the crux of it. Bluesky isn't censorship resistant when there's a single point of failure concentrated in the United States.

Doesn’t this essentially remove the network effect of Bluesky though? If posts aren’t on the largest instance of this network because they got moderated off of it, those posts basically don’t exist.
