Reposting educated takes on the U.S. structural apocalypse. I told you so isn’t helpful; but it is truthful.

As someone who has spent over 35 years trying to explain that violence is inherent to policing only to have most people be OK with this, I could be excused if I decided to just give up. But I'm not. I knew we would be where we are today. I still think that we do not have to live like this.

Conflicting info about whether Pretti was murdered by ICE or CBP makes it clear that ICE is not single "rogue agency"

ICE, CBP and ALL policing & borders must be abolished. This isn't just one agency; its an entire infrastructure of carceral control, illegalization & criminalization, and fascism.

JD Vance said that ICE can operate with absolute immunity. That's not a police force. That's a death squad.

They are doing exactly what they are being told to do.

Europe may begin selling U.S. assets in response to a new conflict with the US—a move that could trigger a dollar collapse, Bloomberg reports. Deutsche Bank analysts warn Washington’s key vulnerability is living off global financing—and Europe may decide it no longer wants to bankroll the U.S.

What you are seeing here from Booker is the most craven and cynical counterinsurgency designed to preserve the key structures while tricking low information liberals into thinking people in power care and are “doing something.”

I hope anyone interested in learning about the little dance Booker and Schumer and the rest of them are playing will read my book copaganda. And if you want the truth about body cameras, I wrote about that here: bsky.app/profile/equa...
It's quite similar to the Democratic party and liberal punditry's approach to body cameras, which I wrote about at length last year: campuspress.yale.edu/yjll/volume-.... "Training" rhetoric is an even more stark example of effective counterinsurgency propaganda.

What this administration is doing is accelerating and building on what already existed. This is disorienting, I know. We have to do what we can to protect each other locally while we also seriously address the foundational issues. This country has to disempower policing. I hope people understand now

Prison guards are flocking to ICE jobs and frankly this makes sense. Those of us who have been anti-prison organizers for decades have been saying that fascism already existed within prisons/jails. Our best teachers for how to survive fascism are incarcerated people.

I think of this a lot. Mostly because my favorite thing to say is that knowing who to be mad at is praxis. But it's also difficult for people to know currently because there's no identifiable leadership on the Lefts to clearly articulate this. The fascists constantly tell people who to be mad at.
And try not to take your frustration and feelings of powerlessness out on each other.
