I’m good with my taxes subsidizing social welfare for people who can’t afford food.

I’m enraged with my taxes subsidizing corporate welfare to businesses that won’t pay a living wage.

“SNAP benefits are one of the fastest, most effective forms of economic stimulus because they get money into the economy quickly during a recession.”

“the U.S.’s gross national debt surpassed $38 trillion Wednesday, a record number … also the fastest accumulation of a trillion dollars in debt outside of the COVID-19 pandemic”

Maybe instead of giving Trump $300M for a ballroom, billionaires can just pay more taxes.

The Posse Comitatus Act (1878)
The military cannot be used as a domestic police force.
This includes crowd control, arrests, searches, or seizures inside the U.S.
It applies directly to the Army and Air Force.
The Navy and Marine Corps are also included.

Seriously disturbing. Although the current administration would love nothing more than to make an example out of Minneapolis after what happened with the aftermath of George Floyd. Feels like a ticking time bomb before this stuff gets really ugly
I think we’ve reached a boiling point when it comes to ICE.

Today in Minneapolis, a militarized task force raided the beloved Lake Street taqueria, Las Cuatro Milpas—and the community was not having it.

Agents from ICE, the DEA, FBI, ATF, IRS and HHS rolled up looking like they were ready for war.

Just awful
No one experiencing the tragedy of a miscarriage should be arrested, much less abandoned in jail for 5 months with a $100k bond. But that’s exactly what happened to Mallori Patrice Strait in Texas. Women, particularly women of color, in this country are no longer allowed dignity even in extreme loss

Ways and Means Chair Jason Smith refuses to read a line from Republican's legislation that would provide a tax break for owners of tanning beds.

Fernandez: "So if you have a tanning bed, you get a little bit of a tax break and if you need a hospital bed in rural America, you're out of luck."

If a foreign adversary snuck into our Federal budget and cut science research and education the way we’re cutting it ourselves — strategically undermining America’s long-term health, wealth, and security — we would likely consider it an act of war.

The same people who say Adriana Smith should stay hooked up to machines so a fetus can gestate inside her dead body for 7 months because “it’s a sacrifice a mother would make” can’t fathom a mother crossing the border with her children in hopes of providing a better life for them.
