I love this so much.
A little while ago, my parents' cat Bridget went missing. As the weeks dragged on, they became extremely worried. My dad devised a way to distract himself: he began to paint Bridget's adventures, imagining her travelling through time and popping up in some of art and music's most iconic scenes.

This one is for NOLA folks.

What is the best place to order a king cake that can be shipped? In other words, the best king cake in the city that we can enjoy several states away?

I'll spare you the absolute embarrassment of what a local-to-me shop tried to pass off as King Cake to us last year.

@penguinteen.bsky.social Hi, friends! I'm working on a "Best of 2024" YA cover post for tomorrow and I can't seem to find any credit for the designer and artist of Adventures of Mary Jane by Hope Jahren! Any idea who created it so I can include their names in the post?

US and UK friends, I'm curious: What books were part of your required reading for highschool literature class? Which of them do you remember loving, and which did you loathe?

I asked a child what their fave book from last year was and their answer was a series that was published about a decade ago. A good reminder that a book is always new to a child who hasn't read it. The constant publishing hustle for novelty has nothing to do with what children want. #KidLitUK

A reminder to anyone trapped in an airport due to weather conditions right now:

You have a right to stay in a nearby picturesque village while the airline sorts out a rebooked flight for the 27th. They also have to provide a widowed lumberjack for you to fall in love with.

Know your rights.
