I’m going to think about watching this moment unfold in real time for a long time.

for all the horrors coming out of Chicago and its metro area, the principled courage of everyday people, in the face of such intimidation, never ceases to astonish. www.chicagotribune.com/2025/11/12/k...

I just became a member. I'm using the $ I formerly paid to subscribe to my now canceled WaPo sub. #DemocracyDocket is far more deserving of my money.
After the disturbing news this morning about the Washington Post's opinion section, Democracy Docket sent out the following.

If you want to support its commitment to pro-democracy news, information, opinion and analysis, become a member today. www.democracydocket.com/member-me/

Since I have defended and supported the WaPo in the months since the election and the infamous pulled endorsement, I feel obliged to say: this is very, very bad. A dear friend at a Post vet says it's the worst thing to happen to the Post in its long history, and I can't argue.

Let's be clear: the Medicaid portal went offline because of Donald Trump's orders.

The only reason it is back on is due to outrage from the American people.

Now, they are trying to lie about it.

Medicaid was never taken away from Americans under President Biden.

I thought he was "innocent." If so, why should he care if the report is published? #NoLogic once again.
Two hours before the scheduled release of volume one of the smith report, Trump files an emergency motion for a stay before… Judge Cannon.

There may be a quick trip all the way up the courts, the same way as occurs in death penalty cases where the execution is scheduled for the early hours

Let's make Bluesky the home of independent news.

Unlike X, where algorithms crush links & push content you don't want, news flourishes here. Particularly news from independent & non-profit outlets.

If you prefer news away from MSM, here's a starter pack to share with valuable & verified accounts.

I am a proud monthly contributer to the ACLU!
The ACLU gets *zero* funding from the government.

A bit disconcerting that the fellow tasked with reducing government funding doesn't know that.

@marcelias.bsky.social is a freaking national treasure! We owe him such a debt of gratitude.
Exactly.

I spent the whole year leading up to the election yelling into the void about Project 2025.

In case anyone is wondering why more people are looking to influencers for their news, this is why:

People like Marc aren’t afraid to push back on blatant lies. The media wants their ratings.
Perhaps more of the legacy media should have pushed back on his lies at the time. @democracydocket.com did.
