You have earned the right to grieve. You were not dumb for not seeing "the signs." Extend grace to yourself, and take this opportunity to grieve.
In Re: Gaiman: A gifted writer raised in a cult of weaponized psychology, aimed at manipulating people to join, has a _vast_ toolbox for concealing being an amoral abusive asshole. Nobody, and I do mean nobody, should feel badly about "missing" this. Likewise, if you were charmed by him, or charmed by his works, that's his skill as a writer speaking. If those works were foundational to your love of reading, I am so very very sorry. Because if you re-read them, you're going to interpret them differently, as signs, signs that you were too dumb to see. And no, you were not too dumb to see them, though those books will likely be ruined for you forever. I've had this happen to me multiple times. Please take a moment or four dozen to have a cup of tea or hot cocoa, and to hold on to a cat or a dog or a dear friend and cry. Process the grief. Process the pain. You're mourning something that was very dear to you, put out by an immensely talented writer. And remember, nearly every fiction writer makes the joke: "I tell lies for money. And I do it well." Grief is natural, and you have earned the right to grieve.
