I've been skimming through the book 'ProMotion: How Today's Creators Broke into Comics... and Their Advice to You!' published just under thirty years ago and from what I can tell so far, every word of advice offered by the pros then (many of whom are still pros now) still hold true.

Outstanding news that Fantagraphics is starting a series of Attilio Micheluzzi translations! He's one of the all-time great Italian cartoonists. I have a few of his books in Italian (which I can't read, but the art & storytelling astound me).

Jesse Hamm, 2018: "In his originals, we see Alex Toth ink underlying structural details (on the car, suits) that he later opts to black out, for lighting's sake. He draws through the structure, giving himself a framework, then puts on his "cinematographer" hat and obliterates the details as needed."
