For dealing w/ men, one tip I always suggest is to, periodically, use the go-to:
*cut him off mid-sentence* followed by a terse "Not now, [man's name]"
Even if you do have the energy/time. This trains the man not to overly rely on your attention, but instead to use more adaptive coping skills
