“Over the holidays, we see about 25% more waste generated. It’s a lot of extra food waste, there’s boxes, there’s all kinds of things that people want to be getting rid of,” Aryeh Alex, sustainability manager for the Columbus Department of Public Service, said. www.nbc4i.com/news/local-n...

We generate 25% more waste over the holiday season. Help us by sending food scraps to a drop-off site, recycle all of your cardboard boxes in your blue bin, and bring your Christmas tree to one of the Waste and Reuse Convenience Centers or set it out for curbside yard waste collection.

Destroying our environment is not enough for these data centers—they are also dead set on breaking working families across our communities. www.wosu.org/politics-gov...
Columbus may see higher electric, gas and water costs caused by data center energy demands
If rate increases are approved, an average customer can expect to pay an extra $36 a month by 2027 if they use American Electric Power of Ohio, Columbia Gas of Ohio and Columbus Water.

This morning, we adopted the @cbusmetroparks.bsky.social 2026 budget. This plan continues to invest in staff, operations, park maintenance, inclusive programs, upgrades to facilities, and land acquisition so that our exceptional park district is able to serve the people of Franklin County.

While it’s wonderful to spend the day being thankful for all the good in our lives, remember that this holiday represents the colonization and genocide of the Indigenous peoples whose land was taken from them as they were forcibly removed and killed.

Holidays lead to a significant amount of wasted food that ends up in landfills. To minimize this, create a plan to eat leftovers, donate them, & get creative in the kitchen. Bring the remaining food to one of the City's food scraps drop-off sites, where it will be composted. columbus.gov/foodwaste
