Working with my colleagues to collect and distribute over 6 tons of non-perishable food last week in response to the food emergency was both rewarding and eye-opening. It underscored the urgency of the situation and the need to prevent food from being used as a weapon against people.

Fighting food waste one rescue at a time.
Proud of our team for helping collect, transport, and distribute food to the city's SNAP response program. Donations of non-perishable food will continue to be accepted at both of the Waste and Reuse Convenience Centers indefinitely through our partnership with Columbus Food Rescue.
Our Department, along with our Keep Columbus Beautiful program, is proud to support the City's response to the SNAP and food emergency by supporting food collections, transporting food, collecting recycling at giveaways, and more. It's just one more way we are serving our community.

It was an incredible honor to represent the City of Columbus at the Milan Urban Food Policy Pact Global Forum as we were awarded a Special Mention for our efforts to reduce food waste through collaboration, education, rescue, and composting.
