USA Curling Just Sold Our Soul - An Open Letter to US Curlers - Community Post
USA Curling is trying to sell the soul of our sport. They are ceding control of our governing body to the President’s whims.

In all seriousness, this conversation came about (again) yesterday because @chrispureka.bsky.social and @andreagibson.bsky.social - their memory is a blessing - dropped this for Andrea's beloved. And for us.

My partner & love, @archangelzeriel.bsky.social , and I have a perpetual disagreement about sad, melancholy, or just plain heart-breaking music. I think sad music is the BEST music; he thinks someone with my mental health history should listen to happy music.
AITA if I blast Mozart's Requiem today?

I've been very quiet, lately.
When I'm under a lot of stress, I tend to withdraw.
Over the last two months, I have completed a degree program (RN-to-BSN ftw) and immigrated to a new country. Only mildly stressful...

But I am still here. And I'm glad you're here. Take care of yourself today. ❤️

Reposting with gratitude to @hillarymonahan.bsky.social for having the language to express the "ick" I felt about Hereditary, but could never quite articulate.

I still need to see Midsommar.
Why I like Midsommar: social commentary about white supremacy and ageism wrapped up in a fiery bear costume.

Why I dislike Hereditary: using a disabled girl existing as disabled as a creep tactic then ripping her head off so other characters get a story arc.

🤷‍♂️

It was not for me.

I knew this was going to happen but FUCK it still hurts.

Their memory is a blessing to all of us.

I want to be clear: this is what American prisons are like.

I spent years posting about the humanitarian crisis in U.S. prisons. The criminal legal system consigns Americans who are incarcerated to live like this FOR YEARS. DECADES.
They held him like this for 100 days.

There are some handymen (handypeople? Contractors.) here this morning, two of whom are Latino. I want to apologize for not speaking Spanish, and my brain very helpfully came up with the words... in French.

How's your Thursday going?

See this? This me right now (except I don’t smoke cigarettes).

Don’t forget to have breakfast. Or in my case, don’t forget that breakfast IS A THING when you plan your food shopping. I could be hydrated. Less feral. Surviving. Hinged.

Good morning, Bluesky. I forgot to eat breakfast, and it is going to take everything I've got to not make it everyone else's problem.

So take better care of yourselves than I do. Coffee is not breakfast; coffee is a component of breakfast.

No matter how bad you imagine smallpox was, it was worse than that.
Ben Franklin on inoculation, after his son died from smallpox.

“In 1736, I lost one of my sons, a fine boy of four years old, by the small-pox, taken in the common way. I long regretted bitterly, and still regret that I had not given it to him by inoculation”.

Sending love and calm to my Canadian friends today. After you vote, get yourself a 'lil treat. If you voted early, get yourself a 'lil treat. If you're not able to vote yet due to age or citizenship status, get yourself a 'lil treat anyway.

Shavua tov, Bluesky. How are you holding up today?

My family is moving in less than two months, so I'm sure you can guess how *we're* holding up. This Shabbos I played with the dog, took a nap, and read a book (didn't finish it, though).

Today: schoolwork & cleaning.
Send pet pictures please?

Shavua tov, Bluesky.
I was going to say something like "Been a helluva news cycle, eh?" but... that's every day. Sorry.

If I did not have celiac disease, I would be enjoying a nice bagel to commemorate the end of Passover. But I do. So... rice cakes it is.
Tell me about your gluten-y breakfast.
