My latest in The Echo. The Albanese govt's reforms are not being given the credit they deserve. The focus group-driven mantra of a ‘do nothing’ govt cannot be sustained if our erstwhile political commentators bothered to look at what the govt has actually done #auspol www.echo.net.au/2025/01/main...
Mainstream media fails to mention positive Labor policies
The new year in Australian politics, an all-important election year, began on a high with a host of Albanese government policy initiatives taking effect from January 1, 2025.

Elon Musk is urging people not to donate to #Wikipedia.

He wants to buy it to turn it into a propaganda machine, just as he did with Twitter.

I use it pretty much daily. It isn't perfect, but it's worth it.

So I just signed up to make a monthly donation to Wikipedia

Musk's opinion piece for the German paper Die Welt, endorsing a right-wing extremist political party, matters a lot more for us than you might think, so I spent some time putting together a look at German politics, Musk's views, and the reaction to them. joycevance.substack.com/p/musk-in-di...
Musk in Die Welt
It did not take long for Eva Marie Kogel, the opinion editor at Die Welt, Germany’s paper of record, to decide what the right thing for her to do was.

"Why should Ireland be a special case? Perhaps I flatter myself, but I’d like to think that even if I were British, or American, or German, or Dutch, I would still be able to look at the campaign of slaughter and destruction Israel is waging, and see it for the moral outrage that it is."
The mystery is not why we Irish have responded to Israel’s barbarism. It’s why others have not
I don’t believe in the idea of being on the right side of history. The histories of the future are none of our concern. Our concern is the present

Brilliant article.

There are some economists out there still pretending that the private sector is this great efficient allocator of resources that works best when govt's reduce regulations....

I seriously wonder how they have even learned to tie their own shoe laces they are so ignorant.

I really like “masks useless”. Beyond my never getting covid despite intubating covid patients, pre vaccine no less, we made a whole strain of flu fucking disappear from the earth, inadvertantly, by masking.

It went extinct.

But yeah. Tell me masks don’t do anything…
