Bernie Sanders: "What this Senate is about to do is make a horrific situation even worse. So let's be clear what this vote is about. If this vote succeeds, over 20 million Americans are gonna see at least a doubling in their premiums in the ACA."

A Sharon Begley byline, almost 5 years after her death.
Upon hearing the news James Watson had died, a STAT reporter said in our Slack, "I wish I could read what Sharon would have written."
Incredible news: Sharon in fact did pre-write a Watson obit. And it is masterful and excoriating.

I haven’t been a big consumer of poetry but have read more recently. And as I’ve looked at poetic forms and developed an understanding of how they are categorized I’ve wondered about the use of verse and rhyme, blank verse and free verse, both historically and popularly. I found this informative.

For almost four decades, Nancy Pelosi has served the American people and worked to make our country better. No one was more skilled at bringing people together and getting legislation passed – and I will always be grateful for her support of the Affordable Care Act.

Met police’s culture makes racial harm ‘inevitable’, internal review finds
The revew, the first to focus on the racism of the institution as a whole, found a culture and leadership determined to prevent real change
The “racial harm” the Metropolitan police inflicts on black people is “institutionally defended”, with its leadership and culture protecting the force from real change, an internal review has found.
The report by Dr Shereen Daniels, published on Friday, draws on internal documents and evidence, with the Met responding by accepting long-standing evidence of racism and discrimination within Britain’s biggest force. Continue reading...

I usually hate to see people making fun of a near 80 year old suffering from advanced dementia who rants incoherently, has ankles the size of many necks and dozes off whenever he's not babbling. But I make one exception to that rule.
