Examples like this are what concerns me about what I call the forgiveness culture in the US. Compelled forgiveness is not forgiveness. It is suppression and silencing of victims' voices. It goes hand in hand with toxic empathy.

Until we pass laws that shut down any church that supports child abuse this will keep happening. People need to understand the system the Churches have is no different than Epsteins system for the rich pedos.

Confiscating jewellery from survivors of a war zone makes you look like a fucking Nazi. And the obscene thing is, that is the intention. It's there to look appropriately harsh. Indecent. Filthy. A moral stain. And no-one of good character would have ever proposed such a thing in the first place.

I read the Guardian, and it hasn't convinced me. These hard-line, Reform-like policies aren't what the majority of people voted this government in for. This isn't joined-up thinking and only panders to bigots, not Labour voters.

There's a difference between using the 5 active nuclear power stations in the UK & planning to build more.
The electricity ‘grid’ has to be kept in a ‘steady state’. While renewable generators are being connected to and disconnected from the grid (e.g. as the weather or sunlight change) you need a steady ‘base load’. Nuclear provides this base load without having to burn gas, oil, wood or coal.
