Public health today is under attack, but nobody is rushing to save it

Why?

When public health works, NOTHING happens - bad things are prevented and nobody even knows

Because the successes are not visible, people take it for granted

Public health must communicate our successes

We must be visible

Due to this outbreak, the number of cases of necrotizing fasciitis is expected to rise significantly. I’m grateful that universities and news media outlets are covering the “what to know” in place of the CDC’s neglect.

9 CDC Directors going back to 1977 speak out. What RFK Jr has done to our nation’s public health system "should alarm every American."

With the ongoing debate around the so-called "Big Beautiful Bill,” and it’s passing on the eve of the celebration of the US freedom, an unwanted disease is spreading in our domain. Public health & medical professionals are preparing for a “new norm” of increased dengue cases in our country.

Essentially, this will affect our children’s children.
There are 2 previous historical cases of countries destroying their science and universities, crippling them for decades: Lysenkoism in the USSR and Nazi Germany. The Trump administration will be the 3rd.
It's not just budgets but research, institutions, expertise, and training the next generation.

By canceling $250 Million of #NIH grant funds to #columbia, #trump saved each person $0.74. You out here saving big bucks, ain’t you? I wonder how much $$ was spent to cancel those contracts. #endfascism.

It’s called arguing in bad faith. RFK repeatedly asks for people to show data on the safety of vaccines (which was his responsibility to review as an applicant for HHS secretary) but when presented with reams of data, he dismisses it

RFK Jr. kept asking to see the science that vaccines were safe. After he saw it, he dismissed it
The man who hopes to be President Donald Trump’s health secretary says he needs to see data showing vaccines are safe, but he dismissed the evidence shown by an influential Republican senator.

Idgaf I’m still fighting for guaranteed healthcare.

Aspiration is the answer. Not just “we’re not the bad guys.”

We need something more meaningful than that. I want a future worth fighting for. They have no vision. We do. Lean into our strengths and knock them out. 👊🏽

I agree. I warned multiple people about project 2025 being the Trump administration agenda. No one knows how to believe politicians when they tell you who they really are. Deductive reasoning is a great skill.
Not to get all political on you but actually I do think you should be talking to people you know about this
cool how Project 2025 went viral during the election, we were told Trump disavowed it and wouldn't do it, he got elected and started implementing it immediately and now we're being told "well this is what people voted for"

they very explicitly did not

Donald Trump's decision to freeze all federal assistance is an unconstitutional overreach and shows us exactly why we need a strong moderate opposition in this moment.

We need to be loud in opposition. We must fight back.
