Consider - my parents were faced with this same realization when I was a boy and moved us from Brazil to the USA when I was 5(ish). They dealt with this.
My father never got his sea-legs and returned to BR while my mother stayed in the US as a single mother with 3 children.
It’s a weird time rn.

That’s 2 friends/colleagues in the last month that have had enough and are gtfo’ing this country. Not for ideological reasons but, instead, real reasons to be scared for themselves and their loved ones. “We can’t do it anymore”
