And to make the "pattern" still clearer: today also we learned the Croatian govt will again use public and EU funds to hire a Chinese firm to lead a major infrastructure construction project in the country. We have seen this film in Hungary, Slovakia.

Croatia has refused to bar entry to Kremlin ally Dodik, the most senior members of the HDZ govt continue to regularly meet with him in Croatia in fact, and used its veto power to block EU sanctions against him. But they've barred entry to an investigative journalist.

But the human mind cannot but recoil at the facts; wealthy Europeans paying to murder civilians, starving children, women, seniors. Hunting them, for sport, for pleasure. Words fail to capture the utter, unconscionable depravity of such actions, and of the creatures who would partake of them.

We have known about these "safaris" for a number of years.
Haris Imamovic discusses it in his remarkable book, "Vedran and the Firemen". And it is heartening the Italian authorities have finally acted.
