Analyses by the BiH branch of @anticorruption.bsky.social suggest the results in 40 voting sites in BiH’s recent special election indicate improbably rapid voting, a clear indicator of fraud (by Dodik’s candidate Karan). They say the results at these sites affect some 8,500 votes.

An important debate in the UK House
of Lords this week re: the developments in BiH. Especially key, as clarified through this question by Lord Browne, that UK government does not intend to remove its sanctions vs. Bosnian Serb secessionists Dodik and Cvijanovic.

Many empires and armies have come and gone, their trinkets long bereft of luster. But the stone remembers, old peoples and their older ways.

A joyous Statehood Day to all the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and to its many friends far across its verdant hills as well.

For reference, with nearly 100% of the vote counted, Blanusa trails Karan by some 8,300 votes. The SDS is claiming in Doboj alone the SNSD tampered with c. 5,000 votes. No one expected this election to be still murkier - or closer! - than the Dodik-Trivic race of 2022 yet here we are.

Emerging OS evidence backing claims of significant irregularities in BiH's special election in RS entity: in Zvornik, SNSD's Karan won by a far greater margin in 2025 than Dodik won in 2022, while trailing his boss in the total vote count by 2k votes yet with a 10k vote decline in approved ballots.

The ruling secessionist SNSD has published the first unofficial results from the RS entity special election in Bosnia and Herzegovina to replace Milorad Dodik as entity president. SNSD candidate, Sinisa Karan, as was widely expected, appears to be leading.

Pleased to be back in London for a series of conversations on the critical role of the UK in the security of the Western Balkans, especially the Atlanticist aspirations of vulnerable democracies like Kosovo and BiH.

AM: Romanian far-right ultras pose in Belgrade with a banner celebrating the convicted genocidaire Ratko Mladic and the Srebrenica Genocide.

PM: Bosnia and Herzegovina eliminates Romania 3-1 in World Cup qualifying.

The same day HDZ authorities in Croatia bar entry to the most prominent investigative reporter in the W. Balkans, an N1 crew is assaulted on the main square of Zagreb.

Clear indicators of democratic backsliding and declining press freedom in the EU's most recent member state.

Today marks 32 yrs since the destruction of Mostar’s Old Bridge by Croat nationalist forces under command of war criminal Praljak during the Bosnian War. One of the most grotesque acts of “culturcide” of the 20th century.

Recent events suggest a renewed surge in nationalist extremism in Croatia.

Ah, yes, renowned gastroenterologist Dragan Covic.
November 7, 2025 at 9:37 PM
How much clearer can Zagreb and Belgrade's shared malign agenda towards Bosnia be made than "Dodik's US lobbyist is advocating for Covic's third entity."

And if you're wondering if this "third entity" thing has ever been tried before? Yeah, it has.

It has come to my attention that Kindle editions of my book "The Bosniaks: Nationhood after Genocide" are again available for purchase on Amazon, for the low-low price of $9.99. My sincere thanks again to everyone who has picked up copies to date! www.amazon.com/Bosniaks-Nat...

With the launch of UK govt's "Foreign Influence Registration Scheme" we can see that there are two British firms registered as lobbying on behalf of Bosnian clients, which in each case are actually the Russian-backed Serb secessionist regime in Banja Luka. Presumably focused on lifting UK sanctions.

Only moments now before the start of the third annual Sarajevo Security Conference. A full house of legislators, military and civilian decision-makers, policy experts, academics, civil society leaders from both sides of the pond. I am so proud just to know the incredible team behind this project.

Good evening, Sarajevo.

The Serbian edition of Russia’s RT propaganda outlet has ✨ feelings✨ about my recent @foreignpolicy.com text which argues there is a historically symbiotic relationship between Serbian imperialist pretensions in the Western Balkans and its inability to develop a democratic regime at home.

As Russian drones strike Poland, & NATO activates Article IV, Bosnian Serb secessionist remains in Moscow. After meeting Lavrov, he met w/ Shoigu today. Despite persistent attacks on BiH’s peace, evident Russian ties, Croatia & Hungary continue to block EU sanctions vs. Dodik.

3 Part Comedy in Banja Luka:
1. Dodik removed by BiH Crt as RS pres, RS PM Viskovic resigns.
2. Dodik illegally appoints new PM, who w/o authority forms new cabinet, which then illegally voted in by RS assembly.
3. New govt session held but by old cohort w/ Viskovic still seated as PM.

This is the govt Germany wants to see become more assertive in the W. Balkans? Really? I understand there are some historical synergies btw Zagreb & Berlin, that Germany was instrumental in installing Schmidt at the OHR at Plenkovic’s behest. But this is an egregious, ignorant policy to pursue.

Alongside Hungary, Croatia remains steadfast in its support for Bosnian Serb secessionist Dodik.

Following comments by Zagreb’s FM saying Croatia regrets signing the Dayton Agreement, Dodik approvingly cites the same comment, concurs Dayton an “mistake”.

Incredible.

Thank you to everyone across BiH who made time to speak with me over the past two months. Notwithstanding the certain turbulence ahead, recent events again show that only by insisting on the supremacy of the rule of law is genuine progress possible.

These graphics from RSE show that while overall economic-demographic trends in BiH headed in the wrong direction, in the RS entity they’re already on the cusp of complete social implosion; pensioners will shortly overtake the entity’s working pop. Long term financial prospects for Banja Luka bleak.

Rafting the pristine, frigid waters of the Una River. Northwestern Bosnia is truly a hidden pearl.

Spectacular Ostrožac castle, just outside Cazin in northwestern Bosnia. The original construction of the castle dates to the 13th century, which then served as an Ottoman fort, and the last additions to which took place during the Austro-Hungarian period in the early 1900s.
