Juneteenth, or Freedom Day, is celebrated every June 19th to acknowledge the unrelenting African American spirit and pay tribute to the contributions that have enriched us. It is a day, a week, and sometimes an entire month marked with celebrations, guest speakers, picnics, and family gatherings.

The HHS rule banning trans care from many ACA plans is open for public comment now. Only 3 comments so far.

Embarrassing how the media is completely ignoring this. There's likely over 200,000 trans people on ACA plans (1% of 24 million)

I think most of who have worked in writing or entertainment know that piracy is a fact of life, and has been for a long time now.

But there’s a difference between a broke student downloading a PDF of your book, and a multibillion dollar company stealing your work for its own bullshit purposes.
Search the LibGen database here, and peer inside a pirated library of millions of books and research papers used by Meta and others:

It is never too late.
People who say “this is lost” or “no more elections” or “he will have a third term” or or or are not people you should pay attention to.
Fights are happening and won every day.
Nothing is lost yet until it’s over.
And it is far from over.
But if you have given up?
Step aside.
I get the instinct to say "it's too late" in response to calls to action (call your reps about thing x, show up to protest thing y). I do. But here's the thing. These are the last tools we have to preserve democracy, short of some very messy options that I refuse to romanticize. Too early to quit.

Y'all. @unitedwedream.org is actively recruiting people to do Know Your Rights trainings, and so are many of the local immigrant advocacy groups near you.

You can help make a difference!
Homan went on CNN to complain that ICE’s attempts to arrest Chicagoans has been hampered by the people’s knowledge of policy—largely because of the city’s “Know Your Rights” campaign. Fascists rely on your compliance. On your ignorance. They depend upon your fear.

Disappoint them.

The best thing you can do for an author is to request their book from your library. The library will usually get it for you! The author will get an immediate sale, and libraries will know there is a demand for their future books! Just google your library name plus "book request" or walk in and ask
Library purchases are purchases. They pay the press. The press counts them towards advances and royalties. And (gasp) the book is in a library!! It’s wonderful and no one should ever feel bad about getting a book through a library instead of buying it.
I got it from my local library system, which has 28 physical copies (more than half are checked out) and 4 audiobooks. The branch library is two blocks from my house so I get most of my books from there. Hope this helps because I loved the book - I'm not a historian and knew nothing of that period.

Hi Bluesky! I suppose I should introduce myself. I’m Jasmine Skye, author of fantastical queer stories. My debut DAUGHTER OF THE BONE FOREST came out this year with Feiwel & Friends.

Outside of posting about books, I’m also a recreational competitive figure skater, cosplayer, and all-around geek.
