This protest was peaceful. The escalation didn’t come from the crowd, it came from law enforcement. People gathered on public property to speak out against an unjust detention. They were met with armored vehicles, riot gear, and chemical agents. It was excessive. It was avoidable.

Calling out the national guard has a lesser effect on people when all other US agencies are heavily militarized already and following the Trump regime's orders. Martial law may have not been declared yet but it sure is being practiced.

In Trump’s first administration, he was surrounded by buffers and filters—now he has amplifiers. Thomas Friedman joined @jeffreygoldberg.bsky.social on Washington Week to discuss how leaders are viewing the instability, and Trump’s feud with Musk:

Speaker Mike Johnson says Trump’s Medicaid cuts will only hit “abusers.” But here’s the truth:

They’re slashing coverage for millions, because they call poverty a scam.

This isn’t about waste. It’s about blame.

There's something weird happening where The Discourse about the tariffs is about how Trump is trying to return us to 1950's and 1960's, the manufacturing heyday of America, but he's not! He' been very very explicit about this. He wants to return us to the 1890's. That's a different project!

Trump says nuclear talks with Iran start Saturday. His warning?
“Make a deal—or face a very bad day.”

Iran just fired back:
“We don’t negotiate with a gun to our head.”

No allies. No backchannels.
Just Trump, the bomb, and a countdown.

Saturday could be diplomacy
or detonation.

Musk's "deferred resignation" contract is a TRAP.

Anyone who signs it WAIVES all rights to pursue legal action against the government -- including TO ENFORCE THE RESIGNATION AGREEMENT ITSELF.

So Musk and Trump can just break the contract, and there's nothing you can do.

Dear Reader, The purge has begun. But President Donald Trump seems determined not just to remove federal employees.  He wants to demonize them as well. In the past 10 days, the Trump administration…

Once upon a time, we complained that "ethnic cleansing" was too sterile a euphemism to describe the forced removal and often violent expulsion of a racial or religious minority from a region.

And now the press can't even bring itself to use *that* term.
The lengths to which the American press is going to describe Donald Trump's Gaza plan in every other way but as ethnic cleansing is quite something
