The children are always ours, every single one of them, all over the globe; and I am beginning to suspect that whoever is incapable of recognizing this may be incapable of morality.

Both Chokyi Senge Rinpoche and Conservator Ann Shaftel agree that there will be no “cleaning” or repainting of the blessed, historic thangka treasures they will be stabilized only to enable them to be handled and hung safely in the traditional manner.

I’m left thinking it’s yet another example of this misconception:
What you grew up with is “normal,” what you believe is “common sense,” you’re just trying to be “neutral.” It’s other people expressing different beliefs that are political. And they should stop, so you and your views are the default.

Watching this reminds us how much work @flintdibble.bsky.social has done to put facts and evidence into public discussions about Archaeology. I highly recommend it especially for the stragies at the end. And Not just because one of my tweets appear honestly!😉

This is such terrible news. Pieta was a friend & colleague - hugely talented & knowledgeable she wore her skills lightly, with generosity & fun.

Pieta got us free high-powered xrays of the Newark torc, lectures, came along to my talks etc.

She was lovely.

46 is just too young.
Way too young.
I will keep this brief but news has reached me that Pieta Greaves, the wonderful, kind, talented conservator that did so much fabulous conservation work has died. I will remember her for her innovative solutions (here using vet tape to stabilise a Saxon workbox!) and her fun. RIP Pieta.

Interesting piece features Helen McCracken on the protection of New Zealand heritage "A population is very attached to its cultural heritage, one of the first ways in which you can attack a community is to destroy what it values.
