In about three years the entire university pivot to AI curricula and schools and programs is going to be so deeply embarrassing. We will all pretend it never happened and I will be standing there, looking at people with a mirror in my eyes. This is all so embarrassing.

Just marked 2 excellent essays, with made-up quotes, probably AI generated and now I feel hollow and gutted.

This is tonight and looks great! Unfortunately I can’t go as we have Yannis Tzioumakis’s inaugural professorial lecture in Liverpool. Which I am also looking forward to… but I wish I could do both.
I'm really looking forward to being back in London for the Cosgrove Lecture at Royal Holloway’s Centre for the GeoHumanities. I’ll be exploring themes around mining, gelatin, environmental remediation, and what remains after mining.

May 12 at 5:30pm!

This is a really worthwhile read…
“Computer vision doesn’t hallucinate because of an inscrutable deus inside the machina. It ‘hallucinates’—such a groovy word for being wrong with confidence—because that is the ideology with which it was encoded.”
