Combining images of fog & smog with ideas of British identity made the reality of pollution much harder to see, says @michellehenning.bsky.social
How romanticised images of London fog shaped the way we see polluted air
London’s fog literally fogged photographs with the yellowish hue of the capital’s notorious ‘pea-soupers’.

I have had quotes from my writing recycled back at me - except I know that I was writing about a different subject - eg. Something I said about museums recycled as if I had said it about a photo! Looking forward to your news!

I’ve slowed down so much because I am checking every reference- latest thing seems to be page spans, i.e. so and so says “this” (pp. 40-44). That and ever-circling arguments.

It couldn’t be clearer that this was never even about immigration.

Goodness! It looks suspiciously like someone glued walnuts to the outside of a model elephant rather than constructed it out of them. Anyway I remain astonished!

I am enjoying the discussion of photography but completely arrested by the elephant made of English walnuts.

Thankyou! I did it because I was so excited when I received my copy and so happy with how the University of Chicago Press had designed and printed it! So as much for my own pleasure as anything!
